    Canadian satellite

Many people in the "most southern provinces" (myself included) canceled their subs when Shaw started the transition of channels to G1, which no longer covered the same footprint as F1 and F2, yep there were many folks as far down as Central America happy with the service. All of them with...

Is Anik F2 the only Shaw Satellite available in the US?

I think so, at least if you're in Georgia, Anik G1 only covers most northern US, as I remember, I canceled my sub because of that,

    Shaw Direct Credit Check

That's great news, now I don't think that had to do anything with you being lucky. ;) I get the impression that the rep just followed the process which again, if you already own your equipment, does not call for any credit check. So, I also get the impression that the first rep you talked to...

    Shaw Direct Credit Check

    I think that should work

    Shaw Direct Credit Check

Exactly, if you own your equipment, no need for credit check, and also in my personal experience there was no problem at all, with my credit card having a non-Cdn billing address (Shaw didn't even check on that) and the Canadian address on my account

    Shaw Direct Credit Check

Ok, I now checked the page I googled before, and it is apparently the only section on their site mentioning the need for a credit check, and yes, as I thought, it has to do with equipment, Link below credit check

    Shaw Direct Credit Check

Here's a thought, say for example my own case, I had the service via a broker, so it was their Cdn address my name and my credit card, the account was closed a few years ago, I was refunded for a partial month or something I remember Now if I wanted to have again a subscription with Shaw, and I...

    Shaw Direct Credit Check

I've already cancelled my subscription since I'm in the "most southern provinces" or "twice south" and the G-1 sat does not reach down here. But for several years i had my monthly bill charged to a non-Canadian credit card. I still can't see why would they need to do a credit check if the...

Shaw service to Mexico not good

I guess that sounds about right, I myself cancelled my subscription about a couple of years ago. Many channels from F1 and F2 were moved over to the new (now not so new) satellite G1, which does not reach Mexico or most of the US.

    SHAW DIRECT

Should work, if you already have your equipment setup and running with signal, etc, and you replace it,

    Shaw Direct in the US

From the last threads I read, I understood that even some HD channels will be available on the older satellites, which means that some HD channels will still be available in the "southern provinces"

Hardware for Shaw services in Mexico

As comment below says, not that it won't be possible to watch nothing at al.. Some channels the ones on G1, have been and out of the footprint of Mexico (whole country). But even so, there are still other channels available on the other 2 satellites, I started my sub with Shaw in 2010, after...

Hardware for Shaw services in Mexico

Yikes ¡ - mm that was the only name I had in mind, there must be another way, or hopefully they could tell you when they expect to be re-stocked

Hardware for Shaw services in Mexico

Some of the "new programming" is on the satellite without footprint in Mexico. As for LNBs required for Shaw, I'd go to kusat.com I had a good experience with them, I just cancelled my sub, since many channels moved to the new sat, not reaching now Mexico

Thinking of going with Shaw in California, have a few questions

Ok that's important for some of us, If it were only for TCM, and losing many other channels, I guess I'd keep subscribing to Shaw, even if I'm outside G1's footprint.

    October changes for Shawdirect

    Thanks for the info

Shaw Direct with 1.2 m dish

Problems is that channels are being taken out from Anik F1 and F2 to G1, and G1's footprint does not reach Mexico, therefore for that case the dish size, the LNB's and receiver are irrelevant. I unsuscribed from Shaw because of that.

Are there any brokers left for Canadian satellite service?

Looks like the other option now, would be with a Vancouver address for those outside G1's

    MY BROKER

Even though I don't use her, I know it could take a few days for her to respond, (this coming from another member who has her as broker).

Those out of G1 footprint may lose a few channels in the next couple of years.

Thanks for the update, Would you know if those changes to MPEG 4 HD, of channels currently on F1 and F2, means these channels will move to G1?

Good to have this thread back, Thanks Scott :biggrin

Those out of G1 footprint may lose a few channels in the next couple of years.

Yep, that's bad news, I was reading about their plans and time lines, and it certainly doesn't look good for us way south of G1's footprint. As i see it, that would mean losing a bunch of channels that are already HD on G1, but that those of us south of G1 are watching SD on the other two...
