    NBC on demand doesn't work

At least it doesn't for us trying to watch American Ninja Warrior. We have tried several different episodes as well and two different Rokus (a new Premiere model and a 3 model that is connect with ethernet). I have 100Mbit internet service and tests show it isn't the issue. Each time the...

How are you seeing your monthly usage with Charter?

SLING TV Begins Cloud DVR Beta

Well it's $200 for the unit and $150 for the lifetime guide sub so that puts you at $350 -- then you still need to purchase a USB drive and a streaming device (like Roku, FireTV, etc.) So it's really makes it no cheaper than the $400 TiVo option that the poster didn't like. That said, Tablo...

Join the Sling TV Cloud DVR Beta

We were an early adopter with Sling TV and I tried my best, but my wife just couldn't accept the lack of DVR so we switched to a Charter bundle (TV + internet) earlier this year. If Sling TV's DVR service is decent, I would switch back to them in a heartbeat (and try their Blue package this...

    3 day replay?

Well, we did end up leaving Sling TV earlier this year because of the issue I outlined above. I see now they are about start beta testing a Cloud DVR -- that sounds like something that could lure us back to Sling TV.

How are you liking Sling TV?

See below for info on which channels have replay and on demand. The biggest pain with that stuff -- and what will likely cause me to leave SlingTV -- is that if you get part way through a show and then have to stop watching it (or in my wife's case you fall asleep) then you want to watch it...

    3 day replay?

My wife hates this aspect even more than I do. You see she often falls asleep watching TV. So when she goes back to watch the end of a (3-day replay) program that she missed when she fell asleep, it is a royal pain in the arse! This very well might end up being a dealer-breaker for us keeping...

    3 day replay?

When watching a "3-day replay" channel, if watching a program that is currently live you can rewind it to the beginning then fast-forward through commercials as you are watching it (until you catch up with live of course). But when watching a program replay, you cannot really use fast forward...

Sling TV comes to XBOX ONE today!

    Never say never! :)

Sling TV comes to XBOX ONE today!

With Xbox One soon adding OTA capability, they really need to figure out how to get Sling TV content into Xbox's "one guide". And wouldn't it be cool (after that was done) then the Xbox One could record Sling TV streams (on it's internal HDD) for viewing later?

Subscriber limitation is 2 million or content jerked off SlingTV

I kept having problems too. If they cannot provide what I am paying for then why am I paying? NOT HAPPY!

    First black mark

I was watching Sling TV for several hours that evening and didn't have any problems -- BUT I was switching between TBS and TNT all night and not staying on one channel for long periods of time. Hopefully Sling TV can work out their problems when watching one channel for several hours.

    3 day replay?

I too think they are going to have to add that capability for all channels (save maybe the ESPN ones since you have access to WatchESPN for replays) for most people to be satisfied with Sling TV.

Sling TV Adds AMC, IFC and new Movie Based Pack with Epix.

Maybe I am wrong, I do not forsee Sling TV offering OTA/locals. That is a lot headache they avoid by not having to work out all those contracts (not to mention the expense).

    First black mark

Did you watch the Arkansas/Wofford game in its entirety? That's the one where I had the multiple problems. Being I could stream it from the other source without any issue, I think the problems are pretty damning of Sling TV. When I had the biggest problem (the odd "not allowed" error) I did...

    First black mark

I had several issues with Sling TV tonight trying to watch TNT (NCAA basketball). It hung up on me at least three times, and I even got some weird "no allowed" error (or something like that). It even forced my new Roku to reboot once (so that took awhile to come back from). Every time I had...

    First black mark

Well if you are streaming from your Hopper to your iPad (at home) and seeing any problems, then those should not be due to your internet service provider (since you are really only using your home network). And that would also mean it very well could be something you can fix it yourself (with a...

    First black mark

Gotcha. Hopefully you get better internet service soon. That said, comparing performance you get on your iPad (over wifi) still isn't really fair when comparing performance you get when watching satellite (when your DVR is wired directly to your TV). You could use DISH's or D*'s apps to...

    First black mark

That buffering on the iPad could very well have been a wifi issue and not related at all to Sling TV (or Netflix, etc.). For a fair comparison you really need to compare your experience using a wired-connection device -- like a Roku 3 or a HTPC -- because you aren't using your home's wifi to...

Anyone else getting bored with Sling?

Well I cut the cord yesterday (by putting DISH on pause -- so we can still watch things already recorded on our 722 DVR). We will see if the family can live with Sling TV + Netflix + Hulu + OTA (using WMC and Media Server to get live streaming as well as recorded TV on my Rokus and other DLNA...

A&E Networks coming to Sling TV

Anyone know if these new channels will be limited to "live only" (like TNT, ESPN, etc.) or will they allow some DVR functions and VOD (like HGTV, Food Network, etc.)? I really hope it is the latter!

Anyone else getting bored with Sling?

Note I was talking about preamps and not amps -- they are different. What you stated is bascially true for an amp, but that does not apply to a quality preamp with a low noise figure. For more details aboutthe subject use the link I posted earlier and then click the Antenna Basics link (under...

Anyone else getting bored with Sling?

Hard to tell if a preamp would help for sure, but you are giving back 1dB of the 12dB of UHF gain your 8-bay is providing -- so that's still a notable 8% loss. I assume all the channels you are trying to pull in are indeed UHF (because that 4228 only has 5dB of VHF gain). You can find a lot of...

Anyone else getting bored with Sling?

How long is your cable run from the antenna to your house (and how many splits once inside)? Do you have a preamp mounted with the antenna on the pole? Even RG-6 loses about 1 dB of the signal every 18 feet (at channel 52) could be the difference between a good signal and an unwatchable one...
