Sling TV launches on Xbox One
· Xbox One users now have access to live sports, movie, lifestyle, family and news channels with Sling TV, including ESPN, AMC, Adult Swim and more

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., March 17, 2015 – TodaySling TV released its app for Xbox One, the first gaming console to support the live, over-the-top TV service. Xbox One joins a constellation of other devices that support Sling TV, including Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick; current-generation Roku players and Roku TV models; Android and iOS devices; and Macs and PCs.
“Sling TV and Xbox are a natural pairing; two out of three millennials think of themselves as gamers, while nearly nine out of 10 watch live sports on TV,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. “Today’s Xbox One customers have been some of the most passionate about Sling TV since the beginning, and now we’re pleased to bring them live TV on their favorite gaming console.”
The companies launched two exclusive limited-time offers for new Sling TV customers. Current Xbox Live members who have an Xbox One will receive one month of Sling TV free, after downloading the Sling TV app from the Xbox One Apps Store, courtesy of Microsoft. Additionally, the first five thousand customers who purchase an Xbox One in a Microsoft retail store or at MicrosoftStore.com between March 17, 2015 and March 22, 2015 will receive three free months of Sling TV service.

Sling TV on Xbox One allows users to Pin the app to their Home, use Kinect voice or gesture controls for Xbox One, and run multiple activities simultaneously by using Xbox One’s Snap feature. Current Sling TV customers can add the app to their Xbox One consoles by downloading Sling TV from the Xbox One Apps Store and signing in with their Sling TV username and password. Sling TV’s “Best of Live TV” $20 core package deliversESPN, ESPN2, AMC, TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, IFC, El Rey, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, ABC Family, Disney Channel, CNN and Galavision, with A&E, HISTORY, H2 and Lifetime coming soon. This package additionally features access to WatchESPN, including ESPN3 and an array of Video-On-Demand entertainment. Awesome. I had been Chromecasting and bouncing from that to the Xbox for Hulu. Now its all in one spot. Plus the Chromecast was good for Sports and not great for normal Tv.
I only wish Dish would make an app for a handful of their channels to stream to the console for us authenticated users to be able to access too. During snow and heavy rain events I lose the picture and it would be nice to be able to have a backup system in place, to at least get ESPN, the weather channel, etc....
I am using the Sling TV app on my Xbox One. So far I really like it. My wife and I are going to dump Directv. Our bill is getting out of hand. 130 a month for Choice Extra, a Genie, and 2 clients! Oh and the 7 dollar protection plan. Just doesn't seem like it's worth it. So we are going to try Sling TV plus Netflix and Hulu for a couple of months and see how it goes. If we don't like it going to sign up for Dish as it's quite a bit cheaper than Directv.
With Xbox One soon adding OTA capability, they really need to figure out how to get Sling TV content into Xbox's "one guide". And wouldn't it be cool (after that was done) then the Xbox One could record Sling TV streams (on it's internal HDD) for viewing later?
