Does anyone have pointers on Dxing OTA channels in this day of digital signals and TVs that the channels must be scanned in??? I have a SONY lcd that I was using for scanning in different directions with my new programable rotor controller. The thing is pretty cool! Some channels still come in...

That sounds like a great idea! The only downfall is how would someone receive OTA without having a "financy" phone and lifetime contract??? Heck we can already get our locals free through a pizza shop! :rolleyes:

I have a Winegard HD8200U I got on Ebay for only $62 and free shipping. It is a lot more antenna than I had before! :)

I can still put up a preamp without much of a hassle. I just am not sure which one for sure along with my modulators and figuring signal loss. A local guy says I should go with the most gain preamp with my situation even with my locals being less than 20 miles away. As for the DA-550BID there...

Cool setup! :up I do not have a preamp on my new Winegard OTA antenna - yet. My old Radio Shack had a mast mount amp and my channels came in from the modulators okay. Now when the modulators are hooked up I loose a few OTA channels and the OTA channels come in fine when the modulators are not...

I was receiving Antenna TV out of the Cleveland area before my antenna blew apart and TV Fool says it is like 81 miles away from me! My antenna was only about 25 feet high and my new one is a good 30 feet high.

I have one of those from my old blown apart Radio Shack antenna #3! I was going to try it on my new Winegard but I need a 300 ohm to 75 ohm transformer to use it.

The one 4 channel modulator has a DSR922, OpenBox S9, Coolsat 6000 and 1 channel open for now. The other has a SONY 400 disc DVD changer, DVD/HDD recorder with QAM channels, Bluray player with Netflix, Panasonic DVD recorder.

I am trying for some fringe channels about +/-75 miles away and I do have locals about 25 miles away. My cable run is fairly long plus I have two 4 channel channel modulators tied in distributing everything in my house.

I am looking at either a Winegard or Channel Master preamp for my OTA antenna and I am confused.One website says that choosing a preamp is determined on how close the nearest station is. Then I read that the preamp selection is determined by how long of a cable run there is plus how many...

Does anybody have a good reasonable price source for antenna rotor cable??? Radio Shack has 100' roll of 3 conductor 20 gauge for $24. Any other suggestions or sources???

Things must be a lot cheaper in Minnesota!!! :( Our local Lowes does not carry anything over 1 1/4" and the price was $26+ for a 10 footer!!! :eek:

Yeah down on the farm that is always what we did! The antenna was much smaller than this one. Some "genius" told me that that 2" pipe was too heavy weight wise and did not have enough strength!!!

My wish was list either a Channel Master or a Winegard. :up The cheap price kind of made my decision! :D My father-in-law has had the same Radio Shack antenna forever it seems... ...It is on its third house!!! :eek:

A buddy has a 20' tower he wants to get rid of. After thinking about the sizeof this antenna and the wind.... it might be a smart idea!

I am near Lake Erie and we do get wind!!! I went through 3 Radio Shack antennas in the last 12 years! :mad: They just start blowing apart after a couple of years. I am not sure who made them but now the Radio Shack manager says that they are now made by Winegard! :up

I just got off the phone with a local Winegard dealer and he says that the 2" recommendation is a misprint! :confused:

The "beast" weighs about 15 pounds so maybe I will stick with the 1 1/4" mast. Bad idea???
