    Question on Installation, Diplexer

Thanks Harshness, I think I understand, don't have to diplex both cables coming in, just one. That makes sense to me and I think I can manage it!!! I don't know why this was so hard to get thru my head!!! Going to give it a whirl this weekend or next!!! THANKS!

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

Thanks Lak7. We honestly could care less about HD, we live in the boonies and need OTA for local channels. So, we're not trying to hook this up to receive HD, just to be able to view our local channels. I will try the suggestions, I'm still not 100% sure on how to do it but I guess with a...

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

I'll look when I get home and see. It's either an R10 or R15 (whichever one does not have tivo). I'm hoping once I have everything in front of me I'll understand. I still don't get how the converter box comes into the mix but I'll figure it out. Thanks!

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

OH ok, got it, so 2 diplexers for the dvr. Each coax that comes up to the receiver will be connected on it's own diplexer then each will have a coax coming off the double side, one to the receiver and one to the converter box? But (hopefully last question) doesn't the converter box only have...

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

Yeah, I know, that's what I'm not getting about the diplexer. Why am I not getting this! ARGH!! I am going to run the ota coax into the multiswitch then where the 2 sat coax's come out of the floor to the receiver I'm going to hook both of them to the diplexer? Right? It will not...

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

Thanks Lak, I'm really close to understanding (ugh). The coax coming up from the basement on the single side then would put a separate coax on the double side, one to ota input on the receiver and one to the sat input? I think I finally get that part but I still don't get how I can have both...

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

Do I bring the ota into the multi first? It does have an "input" for that. And do I need a diplex for each tv? How do I have 2 dvr coaxs AND the ota go into the diplex when there are only 2 inputs (one ota and one sat)?

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

Thanks for the link, helps a little, but still not getting it. Does the diplexer come into play BEFORE the multi switch or AFTER? My goal is to have the ota coax go into the receiver, I think that would take the least amount of coax wouldn't it? If I had to run coax to each tv it would be...

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

It's not an hd dvr but I don't get exactly what you're saying...(I'm blonde) does that explain it? HA!!!

    Question on Installation, Diplexer

Ok, back in Feb. I posted asking how to hook up OTA to go into two "old" tv's using Directv. Ciwsguy was very helpful and finally got me to understand that I would need to use diplexers. We are now finally ready to install our antenna and I was online looking at diplexers and got a little...

    Have satellite, need boxes?

It's a wingard (sp?) v3800 I think, something like that, I just looked fast and am going by memory. I was on their site earlier but didn't find anything....I may try again tomorrow when I have more time. So looks like I'm going to need a handful of diplexers? :) Still not as bad as having...

    Have satellite, need boxes?

ciwsguy, I just ran down cellar (yes, our hook ups are below) and checked the switch, there is clearly a vhf/uhf hookup. So are you saying we can run the OTA coax to the switch and it would then go to all tvs without running more coax? How would that go, would the coax coming to each receiver...

    Have satellite, need boxes?

Ok, 1. all DTV receivers....R10 is hooked to newest tv with hd capability, R15 is hooked to an older tv and D10 is hooked to an older tv. 2. The R10 is connected thru the vcr and somewhere in the mix a dvd player is connected too. But, I'm pretty sure the vcr is where everything goes into...

    Have satellite, need boxes?

I'm not at home right now but I almost think there is one on our multi switch. But, it's not power operated. If this can be used then I would not need to run any other cables? Or would I still have to run something into the 2 tv's that aren't current and need dtv boxes? Crud, now I'm back...

    Have satellite, need boxes?

Thanks a bunch, I'm not a radio shack fan either but it was the only place I could think of fast to look online! :) You clarified everything for me and now I have an idea of what to do. I'll look it up and see what I can do!! Might be back on in the spring to ask for more help! :p Andrea

    Have satellite, need boxes?

Ok, you answered my questions on if I need the boxes or not, guess I do! The second part of your answer has me confused, trust me, it doesn't take much. I went to Radioshack.com and looked up distribution amp and there are a few different things there, is it sort of a splitter that we would...

    Have satellite, need boxes?

I have directv in three rooms in my home. I have one tv that is already hd ready but the other two are oldies. If I'm using satellite receivers do I still need to buy the converter boxes? Also, we are putting up an outdoor antenna in the spring and I tried to read (and understand, ha ha) how...
