    A&e Hd

If the shows were identical you would have a point, just downres the signal.... But, I have noticed that Food Network shows a different lineup in HD than in SD. :( I have not scoped all other channels, but I imagine they may be similar. Though your post seemed to imply you wanted ALL SD...

    A&e Hd

Why would I want to lose all the channels that are not HD just to meet some "all HD" mandate? Though as noted above, the mandate is digital, not HD. :) Brad

    A&e Hd

A&E HD works fine for me in Garland, Texas. It didn't have any guide info on my TivoHD, but it was playing something. :) I will note that I think DirectTV's claims may be a bit untrue. Perhaps they are counting all their local HD channels. :) Brad

Dumped DISH 622 and went with FIOS !!!

The TivoHD is "only" $250 at Amazon, but that is still a sizeable chunk. :) Brad

    Verizon fios in my yard.

Is it the cable, or just the conduit? They laid the conduit in the spring and I was able to order Fios about Sept 11. I got it installed a week later. :) I think I was the first in my neighborhood. Brad

Still the phone company... can't even order

I had no trouble getting it setup on the phone the day after it came available in my area, and they included several calls back to make sure they had the details right. Now working out why the bill is almost twice the promised rate may take a while. :) Brad

Dumped DISH 622 and went with FIOS !!!

From what I can tell, relevant subchannels are on different channels here. We don't get the multiple weather channels, but we do get the ones that are "meaningful" it seems. Brad

    New HD Channels?

The Tivo HD works fine with Verizon Fios. I liked my Dish 522 interface better, but the Tivo is decent. I have never tired the Verizon unit. I heard so many bad things about it I went out and bought 2 Tivo HD units before Fios was hooked up in my house. Brad

    Wiring

I can't see why to install RG59. If you are going to the trouble of adding the wiring, go with RG6 throughout. It is not that much more expensive and is much better quality. Note that Verizon planned on hijacking my existing cable when the came for my install a few weeks ago. I had them run...

To Tivo or not To Tivo

Make sure that monthly fee is really locked in. The cheapest I got was ~$9/month for 3 years (prepaid on the first, billed monthly for my second Tivo HD). Brad

Free Insall May Not Be Free!

Thanks, that's what we plan to do. :) Brad

    New HD Channels?

They call them "M-cards" for Motorola, not multi-stream. :( I now have 4 "m-cards" for my 2 Tivos. I will keep my eyes open for a true m-card since I would prefer not to pay twice as much per month. The tech said they don't do many cable card installs, so I may be stuck with these for some...

Free Insall May Not Be Free!

I just got Verizon's "TriplePlay" package (Internet (15M/2M), phone, cable) installed today ($109.99/month). I have been quite happy with everything, except for one thing. When the installer arrived he said he would have to reuse existing wiring, since that was what was included in the "free...

Fios Now in Garland, TX (Eastern Hills Area)

I am not installed and running, likely one of the first people in the neighborhood, if not the first. The Internet speed is great. The channels seem OK, if a bit overwhelming. I miss the guides from my 522s already, but I will now live with whatever the Tivo HD provides.... :) Brad

    New HD Channels?

I am getting Internet (15M down, 2M up), Fios TV and phone for $109.99 per month, plus taxes. This is a good deal since I am already paying about $82 (with tax) for 3M down DSL and very basic phone. I had to agree to a 2 year deal, but I figure I will save enough in a few months I could cover...

Fios Now in Garland, TX (Eastern Hills Area)

After a long delay (since the spring when they started digging things up), I was just able to order the triple-play package for $109.99 (Phone, 15/2 Internet, TV). My install is set for 9/19. Hopefully my wife can get them to put things in the right place, though I am going to try to come...

Dumped DISH 622 and went with FIOS !!!

We were recommended by several people (non-dish) to leave the dishes on the roof, at least until the next time we reroof the house. No need to leave a possible leak point where you remove bolts into the roof. It will look a bit tacky, but who will know or really care? I just want Fios to...

    FIOS Internet Price Increase

The "principle" argument sounds interesting, but speed is much more addicting than principle in the case of Internet access. :) Last I checked, our area of Garland (which should get Fios really soon now) was Time-Warner (or was that someone else?) now, not Concast. They seem to be doing some...

    Tivo with Fios?

What I do want to figure out on my Tivo is how to select the channel without going to it. My Dish units let me see the channel (and what is playing) without going to the channel. Then I could jump to it. Channel surfing is VERY annoying now. :) I suspect part of it is because I don't know...

    Tivo with Fios?

Dumped DISH 622 and went with FIOS !!!

I did figure in the Tivo costs, but even at less than $9 per month each (though I think my 2nd will be less), I am still ahead given that my home phone is at around $50 per month for very basic service and the Internet access would be $40 per month. Dish would have a really hard time competing...

How do they physically lay the cable?

It took about 4 to 6 months (I have lost track now), assuming we get ours in the next few days. I got so excited to see the orange conduit going in, only to have to wait for a long while. I talked with the guy doing the final testing and he indicated it was only a short bit more until he...

Dumped DISH 622 and went with FIOS !!!

Did you factor in any savings by having Internet and Cable together? Since they also have my home phone I will be getting all 3 for about the price I was paying for Dish with the Top 180 plan before I downgraded a while back. I figure I am ahead even considering I just bought 2 TivoHD units. :)

    Media Center DVR Question

Thanks. Do you know how it compares to the Tivo HD unit? Has anyone used both? Brad

    Tivo with Fios?

Can a Tivo HD unit be used directly with Fios? I notice that the Tivo site says to get 2 "CableCards" from your cable company. Is that applicable to Fios? I am hoping to get Fios soon and I am looking at options to extend my HD DVR recording space. Brad
