    Apartment Cable Junction Box

I've installed dish going into the MDU boxes... can't recall I've had a problem with it. Talked with the property management, they say it's theirs so they didn't mind. I happen to have my own keys to get in there so there was no cable co to deal with. Maybe you can talk to the management...

Telecom rollouts raise ire over utility boxes

I love it when the cable co mounts those big oversized battery pack boxes on a pole having to climb over them. Something real nice to break my fall. Wonder how far they can get in between distance on one of those cabinets...

All the installer and service complaints...

There was a time when Uncle Chuck decided to cut the work load off his inhouse crew, routes became lighter, quality was a demand in order to gain a profit, then they found that majority of crews still didn't give a hoot not any more money being made, so the workload went back up, if he can't...

Distance you can run cable for Sat tv

I wouldn't say that. Your area might call for a 1000.2 dish, no external switch needed. I have sucessfully made runs over 200' with no ill effects. I used high quality pure copper burial coax. The problem your going to run into is the installer is going to laugh at you, just tell him that...

I think I recall Starband you have to end up paying like $400 or so for the system before its even installed.

    Satellite Internet

I've installed quite a few Wildblue Systems.... thus my answer maybe a bit biased, but look into this, upfront costs, equipment costs, installation costs, monthly costs, contracts, etc. I think Wildblue maybe the best of both worlds and you can combine with Dish Network on one bill.

    AT&T Hits Brakes on UVERSE

If I recall correctly, if there was no existing outlet, cat 5 must be ran. Pretty much credits what you said about switching from coax to cat 5. :hatsoff:

    AT&T Hits Brakes on UVERSE

I have a former co-worker that went to go work for them, I had asked about the ability to watch more then 1 hd stream at one time, he thought I was crazy, aparently not. This was when he first was hired in so I still give him credibility. Seems like they have to re-invent the wheel just to...

    Coax Splitter/Amplifier

In an ideal world, the tech will take his fancy meter and troubleshoot that by means of divide and conquer then call for a line tech. If you get a lazy "cable dawg" they'll tell you that you need to go out to Lowe's, buy a compression tool and fittings and replace all the fittings in the house...

    Coax Splitter/Amplifier

You don't want a amplifier to boost signals to your cable modem, that is not a fix. You might have a bad drop (line from tap to house) or possibly a bad port on the tap, or even hard line troubles. If you have good picture quality on basic cable all channels on all tv's, without a meter, I...

How to hook up both cable & Direct TV, same house?

Cable modem's _might_ work with diplexers on a sat line, the problem is the two bands are too close to each other, it may work fine for awhile, but it could interfere with each other at some point. My guess is, each cable company's system is different. For example in my area where I am...

Why Charter communications is so cheap.

I had basic cable internet installed recently. The installer asked me why I didn't goto the tap and turn myself on, I told him I dont care for basic cable, I have a dish, fella walked right passed it as he entered my pad. I asked what my signal level's were, he said +2 on CH 2, and +16 up on...

    SatHawk 5.1.6+ issues. Need Help!

I had bought one of those, used it for 2 days and returned it. Picked up a dual buddy from Applied instruments, end of story. Sathawk seems to me pretty cheesy for $400+. Drop it one time I don't think it'll work anymore. No it can't do DP+, but works nice with a DP Twin.
