I put the Google channel on my Roku 3 and looked at the cost of a few movies....then I promptly removed it. Maybe I'm wrong but I could buy the dvd for that price or wait til it shows up at Redbox. Did I miss something here? $13.99 or so a movie

I'll stick with my Roku 3 for now. I can imagine buying a TV with Roku built in and it malfunctioning down the road. It would be as useless as the tv's that had built in VHS or DVD players in them. Not sure I'm buying this whole idea though after I tried it on my Roku this spring, and they still were charging the set top box fee of about $ 9.00 a month. I don't see them losing $9.00 month from perhaps thousands of current customers. They'll just add it in somewhere. Still interesting read...

I've got PlayOn but don't really use it much. I use the "my media" part somewhat for my HTPC. It isn't able to be customized and is nowhere near as fancy as Plex. So I stuck with Plex for my media server. Try the free trial though and see what you think.

I've used a program called WinX dvd ripper and there's also a converter as well. The only thing it won't rip is a few $5 dvd's from Wallymart that have 6 or 8 movies on a disc...it chokes on them...Anything else does fine..Disney etc... I've put everything but my Blu Rays and 3D on my 2Tb...

Popcorn, I notice when I access a show/movie it's pretty fast the first go at it...if I back out and click on another movie it takes twice as long to load. Fine on the first show but slow accessing anything after that doesn't make sense. My speedtest usually shows about 11-12 MBPs. Not sure why...

I'm curious for anyone using a Roku with Plex..does it seem slow accessing your movies/shows etc...my internet is 12/1 mbps usually, which shouldn't be an issue. 2tb hard drive using USB 3.0 with the ethernet cable to the Roku. The computer is a 3.6 Gateway with Win 8, but Plex or Roku seems...

I'll have to check out MyMedia. I'm keeping my movies on XBMC and my 2tb drive just in case I'm ever without the internet in the house. I'll probably use Plex otherwise.
