Google Play Movies & TV arrives on Roku devices

I put the Google channel on my Roku 3 and looked at the cost of a few movies....then I promptly removed it. Maybe I'm wrong but I could buy the dvd for that price or wait til it shows up at Redbox. Did I miss something here? $13.99 or so a movie

    Roku to build TVs (CES)

I'll stick with my Roku 3 for now. I can imagine buying a TV with Roku built in and it malfunctioning down the road. It would be as useless as the tv's that had built in VHS or DVD players in them. I also wonder if Roku technology changes in a year or two if the built Roku in would be useless as...

Interesting article about TWC on streaming devices such as Roku etc..

Yeah without a Dvr that might not appeal to a lot of folks ?

Interesting article about TWC on streaming devices such as Roku etc..

Not sure I'm buying this whole idea though after I tried it on my Roku this spring, and they still were charging the set top box fee of about $ 9.00 a month. I don't see them losing $9.00 month from perhaps thousands of current customers. They'll just add it in somewhere. Still interesting read...

    Play On worth it?

I've got PlayOn but don't really use it much. I use the "my media" part somewhat for my HTPC. It isn't able to be customized and is nowhere near as fancy as Plex. So I stuck with Plex for my media server. Try the free trial though and see what you think.

    Vudu/Ultraviolet

I've used a program called WinX dvd ripper and there's also a converter as well. The only thing it won't rip is a few $5 dvd's from Wallymart that have 6 or 8 movies on a disc...it chokes on them...Anything else does fine..Disney etc... I've put everything but my Blu Rays and 3D on my 2Tb...

Question for those using Roku and Plex for a HTPC

Popcorn, I notice when I access a show/movie it's pretty fast the first go at it...if I back out and click on another movie it takes twice as long to load. Fine on the first show but slow accessing anything after that doesn't make sense. My speedtest usually shows about 11-12 MBPs. Not sure why...

Question for those using Roku and Plex for a HTPC

Thanks Teehar...I hate Win 8 no matter how it works lol...came with the desktop though. I'll run a scan and check for anything that shouldn't be there too.

Question for those using Roku and Plex for a HTPC

Thanks guys. I'm not sure why there is a delay but I'm going to keep messing with it and see if I stumble across what's slowing it down lol...just seems like the app is running slow

Question for those using Roku and Plex for a HTPC

I'm curious for anyone using a Roku with Plex..does it seem slow accessing your movies/shows etc...my internet is 12/1 mbps usually, which shouldn't be an issue. 2tb hard drive using USB 3.0 with the ethernet cable to the Roku. The computer is a 3.6 Gateway with Win 8, but Plex or Roku seems...

Break in log jam against internet TV?

Worst part is if several different providers only can offer certain channels it will be a nightmare...sign up with one company for Nick, Spike, Cartoon Network...sign up with another for Showtime and Movie channel etc..that could end up costing an easy $100 a month to get what you want...I've...

The box that would make me embrace IPTV

I've got the same service in Southwest Ohio from TWC. I do see a little rebuffering but not that bad. It takes about 15 seconds for a program to start for me. Until content providers quit playing around we'll suffer as we do. I'd love to see a receiver with OTA added...hey a Roku with OTA and...

Anyone else use Plex? Or Plex on a Roku

I thought I remembered you were using it but guess I forgot. I think it will be easier for the wife to use...she pretty much wants to push one button on the remote and watch whatever...I might convince her this is easy to use lol

Anyone else use Plex? Or Plex on a Roku

I'll have to check out MyMedia. I'm keeping my movies on XBMC and my 2tb drive just in case I'm ever without the internet in the house. I'll probably use Plex otherwise.
