    D9854 Help

It may be your receiver, not all receivers can pull in those channels, I forget what encoding they are, VCM?, I think. Only a few receivers are capable of pulling those channels in, even though they're ITC. I think probably the lack of responses is that no one's familiar with your receiver, so...

Retrofit My Radioshack Dish Onto My KTI Mount

Hi John, I don't really know what it's set at, I've had that feed on there for a few years now and when I put it on I just moved it until I got the best signal I could on my meter. The feed on that dish is a Chap C/Ku Corotor, so I had to do some tweaking to get the best of both C and Ku. I...

Retrofit My Radioshack Dish Onto My KTI Mount

John, are you trying to set declination according to the mount (as if it was all original without the RS dish on it) or going by what the RS dish manual says declination should be? I mounted my 12' Conifer on a different mount and I used the specs for the mount, that worked for me in that case.

Retrofit My Radioshack Dish Onto My KTI Mount

Hi John, The manual says to only tighten all of the bolts/nuts finger tight then there's 10 steps for tightening the bolts so the dish has the correct shape. I'd uploaded the installation manual here years ago, I'll try finding it. Andy

Retrofit My Radioshack Dish Onto My KTI Mount

Hey John, I mounted my 12' conifer dish onto a mount that looks very similar to that one and it worked out good, but my conifer has square aluminum tubing framing each panel and I bolted to that tubing. I think on your RS dish, I would try seeing if four of the arms would line up with...

Retrofit My Radioshack Dish Onto My KTI Mount

Hi John, The mesh could be assembled without those arms and the hub plate but whether it would be strong enough without those arms to hold up to wind and snow, I don't know. Leaving out the plate I don't think would be a problem, but leaving out the arms might be. Do you have a picture of the...

John, If you look on the map at the bottom of the page for that one, it shows it in Kansas, not New York? Not sure where it is really. He's got a typo too, the heading says 9' but in the ad he says 6'. But, I assume it's a 9' like my RS dish, which, if it is, sombody should absolutely grab it...

    Signal Loss

Do you have another receiver that you can swap out temporarily with the 3500? I was having those type issues with my 3500 and I replaced the stock power supply with a 2 amp one, that cured it for a month or so but then it started again, then a week or so later it crapped out completely, dead.

    Hughes Net Dish

I've never had/used a Direcway dish but I have three Slimline dishes that are that shape and they work pretty good for most of the Ku sats. 125 w is about the only one I couldn't get a lock on with the Slimlines, pick up transponders there but no lock on channels.

    No signal

I'm good for plugging the wrong power cord in with stuff. A few times I've taken the cases off of things and pulled out my meter and then it's, oh, I see why there's no power, I plugged in the wrong cord! Happens to all of us in some way or another, I think. :biggrin

    No signal

What receiver are you using? Maybe the lnb power got turned off in the menu somehow? My receivers usually show a high signal whenever a lnb is connected. 5% seems real low. If you have a ohm meter, you could disconnect both ends of your coax and measure between the center pin and shielding, it...

    A Question For The Experts

    New to the Fta world

I wouldn't install your ASC1 outside, the differences in temperature, especially from day to night, will probably cause condensation inside and make it work erratically, or maybe ruin it. I use a ASC1 here on one of my dishes with a C/Ku/polarotor feed on it, works great, they're very nice...

If there's a scrap yard or a welding shop nearby you, you could probably find some suitable pipe there. I picked up a nice 15-20' or so piece of pipe, cement anchors and steel pieces to make a base this past summer at a scrap yard for $38, for the 7.5' dish I picked up last summer.

I tried using one of those red jack posts on a 10' dish here and a strong wind bent it right over. I wouldn't use one of those, they're very thin gauge metal.
