    I miss the old days!

Yes. With the exception that at least there are some high definition feeds today, and everything is digital so no more "sparklies". And many receivers have a PVR function, which is nice. On the other hand, back then everything seemed to just work as long as you aimed the dish correctly, while...

Wish I knew how to construct a circuit - I would build one of these polarotor controllers!

That is fine if the receiver does not have a too-small limit on the number of timers you can set. My old Diamond receiver would only let you set eight timers and that was too few, so if whatever I buy for my next receiver has a similar limitation, I probably won't want to use one of those timer...

Wish I knew how to construct a circuit - I would build one of these polarotor controllers!

The zip file contains five files - a text file that reads as follows: And four PDF files: Are you saying you could not view the PDF files? I didn't have any problem viewing them on my system. Try the links above and see if they will display for you. If not, you could probably use an...

Wish I knew how to construct a circuit - I would build one of these polarotor controllers!

I kind of figured there would not be a huge difference in performance and I actually like the idea of voltage switch better because those old mechanical polorotor units had a tendency to go bad from time to time. Since the voltage-switched units have no moving parts (at least not that I am...

Wish I knew how to construct a circuit - I would build one of these polarotor controllers!

Some time back I subscribed to an RSS feed from this site before I knew anything about it, anyway today a link came in to this post which I found quite interesting: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?p=2021770#post2021770 It begins this way: I was just mentioning a day or...

    Which c/ku-band feedhorn is best?

See my response to Iceberg, if he doesn't choose to delete it. If you didn't read the other thread, you might not understand what precipitated my response. If it had been anyone else, I probably would not have responded that way. In any case, that's not how I would typically respond to...

Which was extremely helpful. Thank you!

    Which c/ku-band feedhorn is best?

Iceberg, I was specifically referring to this post, in which Titanium more or less accused me of being a troll - referring to a discussion we'd had that had progressively gone downhill, he said "This interaction may have started as discussion, but it certainly became a troll." (See this post)...

    Which c/ku-band feedhorn is best?

Excuse me, Titanium, but I wasn't asking you - I was asking wen (the OP). Since you are trying to sell your expensive positioner controller (that can control a polorotor) at four to five times the price of the competing model (that can't), I would be inclined to think that anything you have to...

    Which c/ku-band feedhorn is best?

I'm curious - if you don't mind saying, why are you replacing the BSC621-2D with the older technology? Reason I ask is because I was thinking about doing just the opposite of what you're doing later this year, and the BSC621-2D was actually the one I was leaning toward. Is there some problem...

ENTER HERE: Win a C Band Dish & LNB from SatelliteAV!(Contest Over)

"Honey, you know how you love getting free stuff, and you love a bargain?" "Yes...." "Well, if I got a brand new satellite dish for free, and it was shipped for free, and I didn't have to pay one red cent for it, wouldn't that be great?" "You sure it wouldn't cost us ANYTHING?" "Yes...

Peak your dish on Anik F1 and Anik F2 tonight!

Most of the time you are lucky to find one or two analog signals on Anik F1 and Anik F2 - tonight they are both lit up like Christmas trees due to the election coverage, so if you have an analog receiver and haven't been able to peak it properly on one of the birds (or polarities), tonight is a...

Moving to a house with a BUD... where should I start learning? :)

Okay, only AFTER I composed my response to this did I realize that this message is over two months old. So you have probably figured all this out, but in case any other newbies wander in here, the three illustrations here should give you an idea of where the various pieces go. If you want to...

Moving to a house with a BUD... where should I start learning? :)

Right, the servo motor wires are Red, White and Black - on the back of his receiver those would be the "Polarizer" terminals (the ones that look like speaker wire connectors). The Red wire goes to the top right terminal (a red one, naturally) and the Black wire goes just beneath it, to the...

    Please Help Old C-Band Guy Who's Lost--->

I know it is confusing but let me ask a couple of basic questions: Is your dish and receiver C-band only, or C and Ku band? Did you install your C-band dish yourself, or let a professional installer do it for you? With regard to the small dish, what service was that used with (if Dish...

Solar outage time is here again-great time to check for signal obstructions!

I just made a post in the FTA forum that also applies for C-band users (except, of course, that once you have put up a C-band dish you're probably more likely to remove the obstruction than move the dish!): http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=89661
