    STO MIA?

Me too. On my CS8000 I entered to new TP data & tried to manual scan the new TP. By bumping the BUD, the best I could do was get 5%-7% Q on the CS8000. I liked having the SD signal available, because with 30 seconds of wire-switching, I could use my CS5000 to send the signal to the back BR via...

    WSI 241 LNB problem?

ASA shade appears at my BUD I'm going to disconnect the cable going to my Cband lnbf & check the whole run for static resistance. When I was setting up my dish farm a couple of years ago I did that and my DMM read very close to "zero" if I recall. (I used an F-mini plug adapter, shorted out b/t...

    WSI 241 LNB problem?

I'm not going to check for voltage until I get more instruction. But here's some more testing that I tried: I did clean the connectors but did not replace them. And I did try two models of CS (the 4000 & the 5000). And I tried each with different firmware versions. Most of the ribbon cable...

    WSI 241 LNB problem?

Just so I understand: To check the voltage do I disconnect the RG6 from the lnbf & use my DMM in DC mode to check the voltage drop between the center conductor and the shield while the Coolsat is turned on & set to a station that's on a Horizontal TP?? Or do I need some sort of dummy load...

    WSI 241 LNB problem?

Last night, as my wife was watching ewtn on 91W with a Coolsat 5000, the signal suddenly disappeared. I checked the other channels on 91W, everything on a horizontal TP was showing "no or bad signal" while the vertical TPs are operating normally. I tried my other cband sats & everything on a H...

    On a VBox6, is M1 or M2 positive?

Thanks Hair. That helped. They really should color code the posts differently regardless, though.

    On a VBox6, is M1 or M2 positive?

I have a VBox 6 in my hands. Both of the motor power outlets's posts are RED. Does anyone no which is positive: M1 the upper post or M2, the lower post?

4DTV battery died... Not sure if I should get new 4DTV or just get an AZBox

DN WILL offer month-to-month programming without a 2 year lease if you use & install your own equipment. After bad experience with "pro" installs, I did it myself using a receiver that was given to me & used lnbs & a Dish 500 that was bought on ebay for peanuts.

Motorola Looking to Sell Set-Top Box Unit

I would LOVE to be a 4DTV subscriber instead of a DN victim. BUT, until 4DTV offers the espn channels there's no way. I suspect that the lack of espn chases away many, if not most, potential customers.

    Really Sad about NPS

IF 4DTV offered CNN, MSNBC, FN AND the ESPNs + the Fox regional sports nets I would be all over it like flies on a turd even in SD. My FTA cband channels SD look much better than the DN channels. In fact here's how I rate pic quality from what I've seen: 1) OTA HD (by far) 2) DN HD, BUT 3) FTA...

Is 4DTV Doomed? Should it be?

Without the espn & fsn networks, it's doomed. Sports are a HUGE reason why people pay for subbed tv.

4DTV is great - even the wife thinks so!

This might be true; however, it seems to me that it would increase their indirect sub revenue a little if they would offer programming for cbanders. Both espn & fsn scrambled feeds are located on several sats. It seems that it would require minimal effort/expense for them to sell BUD owners...

4DTV is great - even the wife thinks so!

Only thing keeping us on DN: the ESPN's!!! Why the hell aren't the espn & FSN channels available for cband subscribers??
  14. B

    4DTV forums gone?

I wish 4dtv providers offered espn & espn2. What's up with that? There are encrypted espn feeds listed on lyngsat, so why isn't espn offered for c band subscription?

    ALTV has a new look

Went to their website; it looks like they're showing Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere & the two Bob Newhart series. I loved all these shows!!! I wish ALN was still TFTA...

    Skyvision / Paid Programming ??

I'd drop my DN sub for 4dtv in a NY second except for two issues: 1st and VERY VERY important, there ain't no way of getting espn & espn2 via cband subscription even though there's several encrypted espn feeds on cband. 2nd, the receivers are expensive and are either used or old-new stock &...

    Aiming a stationary BUD?

I got a chance to ghetto move my BUD around some yesterday after work. I managed to find the Pentagon Channel on 89 & (now I'm my wife's hero) the EWTN channels on 91. I did not find 95 again, but now I realize that I forgot to tell my CS4000 that I had the switch disconnected. (Have my disceq...

    Aiming a stationary BUD?

thanks iceberg. it seems to me that what the manufacturers should do is to state which direction is "zero" and/or mark the lnb from -90 to +90. this would save both us hobbyists & pros a bunch of time.

    Aiming a stationary BUD?

iceburg, so cband's skew is different than ku skew? i did not know that. according to all the skew directions that i've been able to find, the skew assumes up (12 oclock) is "0 degrees". so what you are saying with c band is that 3 oclock is zero degrees, facing the dish?
  20. B

    Aiming a stationary BUD?

It may be confusing, but at least you'd have 2 possible "zeros" when the BUD is pointed due south, one zero at 12 oclock the other at 6.
  21. B

    Aiming a stationary BUD?

I agree, Blindowl. One simple thing would be to mark lnbs' skew markings up to 45 degrees in steps of 10 degrees. I do have another idea, but it may be patentable, which would save us amateur installers some time & frustration. I did rotate my lnb about 90 degrees, & after rescanning, the...

    Aiming a stationary BUD?

I did rotate the lnb, rescanned and the polarities are now correct. I went and moved the dish & locked onto 95W. Unfortunately the rain started & I had to pack up the shop so my BUD is dead for tonight. I've got the 99w position marked & I'm planning on marking 97, 95, and maybe 87.

    Aiming a stationary BUD?

Thanks!! I can try this. I located WHT (or is it WTH?) very weakly & then slowly twisted the lnb to stabilize the pic. The lnb does sort of look upside down!!:D

    Aiming a stationary BUD?

I found 99W. I got it locked on, blindscanned & I have the US virgin Island feeds. Only one problem: My TPs' polarities are reversed from what the Lyngsat data is telling me. (V instead of H or H instead of V). What did I do wrong? And what do i do to correct this? I'm using a WS241 LNBF &...
