    Help with new Satellite Receiver

If you are using a good compass use the Mag listing. The north poll and true magnetic north poll are not in the same place. In fact the magnetic north poll moves! The LNB needs to be (twisted) to line up with the satellite arc depending on you location. Looks like you are well west of 97W so...

    Lightning go boom!

Glad you are ok. Nothing quite like a real close one to make one jump. No doubt it's getting too close when you hear it before you see the flash ;-)

    Help with new Satellite Receiver

If you have broadband internet it looks like you could stream AZTECA tv using hulu. Free trial, $6 per month. That's just the first one I checked. Other streaming services have it too. Might even find it at lower cost.

    Placing a BUD

If you did not take pictures before taking it apart you might be able to find images using google and the manufacture/model of the dish. Also, someone on this forum might have the same dish and will chime in.

    Placing a BUD

Yes, you should be able to prop it up with hay bails or whatever and get the elevation and azimuth very close then if you leave the LNB loose so you can fudge it around you should be able to get a lock.

    Placing a BUD

Are you planing on moving to a different location or do you plan to use it at your current site? If it's the current site spend some time doing a sight survey. A simple elevation sighting device can be made using a plastic straw and an Inclinometer. Research what satellites you might be...

    Help with new Satellite Receiver

Most likely the AZTECA channels used to be on Ku and then got moved to C-band. Perhaps that's why it is confusing you as to what will be needed to receive them. Google "c-band dish images" to get an idea of what is needed.

    Help with new Satellite Receiver

Down near the bottom of the page for 97W you should find 12252 H and RT America today. That would be a good one to start with. On the right side of the picture for your receiver setting the third option down TP edit should let you enter the info above if you can't find a preinstalled list for...

    First C-band Dish Install Strategy

Just wanted to clarify, don't really have an issue with temporary mounts. Can be very useful with smaller dishes. Do not like wood for any mount - moves around too much. A stable welded steel frame with enough weight for the dish to be used would work fine. Something built from an old...

    First C-band Dish Install Strategy

Not sure there is much worth watching on DN or DTV as well ;-) What I miss the most when I had my 10 foot BUD was the sport of finding feeds.

    First C-band Dish Install Strategy

I think you need to install a better mount. Your pallet mount might be ok just to test the LNB and find one satellite but save any fine adjusting until after you get that baby a solid, in concrete mount. It's been a long time since the city made me take down my BUD but I don't remember that it...

    Help with new Satellite Receiver

Sorry but I'm a bit confused, thought you had a 30 inch FTA dish and had clamped in an old Direct TV circular LNB using the clamp spacers that come with some LNB brackets. This could have been useful for learning how to peak a dish because you could have tried to find one of the Dish Network...

    Help with new Satellite Receiver

The top one is a good LNB but it's expensive and heavy. Will not play well with a motor, may even cause boom flex when well east or west of due south.

    Help with new Satellite Receiver

Yes the DN and Direct TV satellites have a lot more power and can get by with the smaller dishes. If your system is setup correct - using the Direct TV LNB you should be able to easily find the DN satellites. With a 30 inch dish it will set the meter on fire ;-) After you get a lock run a blind...

Nice 10 mesh dish available free, Orlando

I guess the bottom line is nobody wanted it enough to go to much effort to pick it up. When I think back on how much effort it took to get the dish 6 years ago - it was 25 feet up in the air, rented 4 levels of scaffolding, complete disassemble up in the air. I could not get anyone to come over...

will fta receiver work c band

Hi, does your big dish use the older style polarity motor? If so a Pansat 3500 has the connectors on the back to change the polarity on the older LNB. There may be more digital receivers that can do this, I do not know. So the Pansat 3500 and a vbox should be all that is needed for DVB-S.

Using a stand alone dish positioner?

Update - I ended up getting a Vbox 7 and seem to have it working well now. When I first installed it I kept getting the Er2 message but it was only in one direction (East) The dish would move to the West fine with the counts showing but when I would try to go back to the East Er2. I pulled the...

Using a stand alone dish positioner?

Hi all, been wanting to get my 10 foot C-band dish back in full order. The old Sat receiver that I was using to position the dish died and I have been stuck on just one Sat. I'm thinking a stand alone positioner might be best - don't want to run new coax. Have not setup or used one before...

    C band Tree Distance

Hi, how tall are the trees? Where are you located? What satellites are you trying to receive? What elevation are the satellites you are trying to receive at from your location? Have you tried checking the elevation over the trees with an inclinometer? That should get you started on trying to...

    10 foot dish mounting post

Hi, if you have access to a pickup or SUV with a little ground clearance a neat trick I have used in the past to move long things is to tie/chain up the item under the truck. I moved the 18 foot long pipe for my BUD that way. I just chained it up to the bottom of the bumper and frame. Later, DC

    Basic C-Band set-up for ME-TV

Hi, I have had THIS for a while OTA and just the other day I noticed ME-TV showed up OTA on a sub channel to one of the big local networks (NBC). So now I have my BUD parked on AMC-1 for RFD-TV and the ION MX. It is amazing how many OTA channels I get now. Later, DC

My signal quality kept getting worse, interesting cause and fix.

Hi all, the signal quality on my BUD has been getting worse over the past two weeks or so and it got to the point I could not pick up anything. Going off a hunch, I wanted to take a close look at the feed horn and probe but my BUD is mounted above the roof and I can not easily look inside so I...

Analog receiver dead . . .can a GBox type device change polarity and position my C-Band Dish?

Hi, a Pansat 3500 SD digital receiver can control the polarity. So with it plus a Gbox you would be all set for digital SD FTA. Later, DC
