Invalid GI 920 - How useful??

Invalid ID The invalid ID isn't the main problem, it is just the indicator of a loss of all information stored in Volital Memory. This includes the portion of the operating system having to do with 4DTV. I would assume the operating system that still functions- analog system- is in non-volital...

    Bad receivers on eBay!

No excuse for the one guy... He is the fellow in Pennsylvania who is selling the LNB without the 10ft dish. He claims he has been using this stuff for years. How can he not know that he has a 920 and not a 922 or that just because the display flashes 12:00 the unit is in good working order. I...

what do I need to move a bud?

Solar Cooker or Death Ray? I thought that if an airplane few within the focal distance it might blind him. Then on thinking that one further, he would have to be at Focal Distance and that would be 40.32 inches. Kinda low. Well! Heck! there goes my plans for my own Buck Rogers "Death...

what do I need to move a bud?

I just reading this post and want to jump in with a comment about cleaning up and painting this solid dish. I just rescued a nice solid aluminum dish in July. It looks much like this one. On mine, the paint on the dish face has been partially stripped by wind and field dust, etc.. I pressure...

    Bad receivers on eBay!

 I'm not very popular with a couple sellers on eBay. One was stating that the unit must be good because the 12:00 was flashing and when he was pressed for the unit ID he came up with a bunch of 000000 etc. Another had a 920 listed as a 922  and eventually he took the listing down...

    Typical BUD guy!

Just rereading my OP and remembered that the House Keeper comes to day. Gotta pick of some of the cable off the floor and stack all the extra receivers in the corner. Damn, there is a woman in my Domain. Steve

Prime Star Thanks for the report and story. And for the pictures. Now I know what to look for. I could use on in place of the "pizza pan" for my FTA receiver. Steve :D

    Typical BUD guy!

After becoming involved (more and more) 8 months ago, I'm looking around and wondering if this is typical for a Newbie or should I look forward to more of the same. Here is what I now observe. One Bud on the one post I have planted. This being the second to occupy that 'elevated' position...

Help! 350i Remote controls 905 Sidecar

Universal Remotes. After checking my two universals and reading of yours, it appears each remote has it's own code scheme, as it applies to various equipment. Something to keep in mind for the same question, in the future. (That is why I changed the Title line- for future searches.) Steve

    Which Ku LNB or LNBF?

Thanks for all the valuable information. (some is still a bit too much to "digest". I'm working in small steps right now). I was thinking that I would have to change analog channels sometime. I had noticed I was only getting the H one on the FTA directory. I have had the 905 hooked up...

Help! 350i Remote controls 905 Sidecar

Here are the codes, as printed in my list that came with the X10 universal remote. 0648, 0640, 0645, 0564,0565, 0566, 0593. These are just for the SAT function. If you have program multipal devices, such as TV w/VCR in the same unit: 0627, 0642, 0643, 0644 As you will note, these are all 4...

    Which Ku LNB or LNBF?

Ku LNB ok! I finally got my Ku LNB to work. I still haven't hooked up my 905 sidecar with my analog GI 450i. However, just to verify that the LNB was working, I put a splitter in the Ku antenna cable and took the input signal to my ViewSat 7000 receiver. Then using the analog box, I located...

Help! 350i Remote controls 905 Sidecar

I just checked the receivers and the 905 doesn't have a UHF feature. The 920 is UHF. The good (maybe) news is that both the 350i and the 450i have antenna connection for the UHF. However, the 450i is designated "Anywhere Remote". I remember reading about this in the manual and the Anywhere...

Help! 350i Remote controls 905 Sidecar

I don't know that this will help you but I have almost the same problem. I have a GI 450i with a 905 sidecar. The 450i came without a remote and I purchased one from another member of this forum. When I got it, it wouldn't control any of my GI reciever (I also have 350i, 920 (invalid ID but...

    Adventures in Dish Hunting 2009

Hey RV1POP, Looking forward to meeting you. The dish is almost completely dissembled. It can be reduced to 8 sections, from the 4 that it is in now, in about 10 minutes. I also have 3 different feed horn/LNBs to select from. These are button hook mounted. There is also the mount assemble as...

10' mesh, come and get it! I have to give up at least one dish. This 10' "KAUL-TRONICS' mesh is on the ground and I don't have any plans to set it up again. I'm afraid it will get damaged over the winter. It is in pretty good condition with a very heavy mount and actuator. I'm using the...

    Adventures in Dish Hunting 2009

I think your right, but if your in the area, I'll bet you could get him to throw in the dish as well. The way I understood the listing, he wasn't listing the dish because of the cost or complications of shipping it. If you look closely at the LNB, I think you will see that it is only a C band...

    Which Ku LNB or LNBF?

Thanks for the encouragement Truckracer, I have been looking at the NorSat products and narrowed down my search to a 4000A series, however I see others that offer more gain with higher noise figures. I'm not that technical and wonder if I should try something with a higher gain?? My existing...

    Ku LNB orientation

I just reinstalled the Ku LNB on the feed horn elbow and found that the mount bolt holes are not equally spaced and the best I could do was rotate it 180 deg. . I'll try test it this evening and see if that makes any difference. I doubt it but it doesn't cost $45 to experiment. Steve

    Which Ku LNB or LNBF?

Thanks Crazed, My only FTA receiver is hooked to a 'pizza pan' on a fixed mount. The BUD is hooked to an GI 450i analog receiver with a GI 905 sidecar for my C and Ku digital reception. The 905 has to work with a analog receiver (hence the term 'sidecar'). As far as I know, neither of these...

    Which Ku LNB or LNBF?

To add to my confusion. I just read the spec. on the GEOSAT CK1 and it appear the polorization is accomplished by DiSEQc. Now how will that work with my old FTA receivers?? Is that signal (voltage shift) in the Coax cable even from the old boxes? How many other problems would this lead to...
