    Scavenged C-band items

I'm willing to send things that I have no use for off to a good home. But, right now I have many number 1 priorities, and I'm not sure what the shipping would be like for items of these size from my location. Anyone who might be interested can research the best means of getting them from...

    Scavenged C-band items

As I have a lot of spare time right now, and much more time than money, I am again looking through the dishes I acquired a few years ago to determine what might be usable to install. The images posted here are the LNBF/feed related items from three different BUD's. I have not had much success...

    Restoring 10ft dish

Looking at the picture of your yard, you probably have at least 3 1/2 feet of undisturbed clayey silt or silty clay. Pretty good ratio for a 10 foot pole. Usually the developers strip off the 18 to 24 inches of good topsoil, then put back 4 to 6 inches. If you follow the recommendations from the...

    Restoring 10ft dish

Just my opinion from having lived in this area for 60 years. Dug many post holes, dealt with frozen water/waste pipes here at the cabin, and done some environmental well drilling throughout the province during my last career. For a 12 foot pole, a 4 foot depth is a reasonable decision in the...

    Restoring 10ft dish

Just got back into reading things on this site recently. Thought I should jump in on this thread before you spend too much time sanding and painting... I never did get that dish mounted, and it is still in my yard near Pigeon Lake. If you want to come pick it up, you might be able to save...

Kijiji, eBay, and Craigslist dishes for you to take a look at

I've already picked up an 8, a 10, and a 12. If I told my wife I was driving to Lethbridge to pick up another dish that doesn't even have all the parts, I may as well keep driving until I hit Ushuaia.

    titanium ASC1 dish positioner

Not trying to make a political statement here, but historically manufacturing migrates to the lowest cost production location under the capitalist system. This goes all the way back to the Industrial Revolution and textiles.

Kijiji, eBay, and Craigslist dishes for you to take a look at

This one is a real puzzle. If they are really a salvage company, why don't they just scrap it? Last May when it was advertised at 75.00 I enquired if they had any other hardware with it and was told it is dish only.

    "Beer" BUD

That could be the source. I think I've only seen 1 other metal big dish in Alberta since I started tracking Kijiji ads. And all I seem to see when I'm driving around is mesh. Maybe I will give Jack a call and see what he has to say.

    "Beer" BUD

Well, the house demolition finally happened, but the hoe operator was unable to pull the dish pole without bending it. Just another data point on BUD poles. An 8.5 inch aluminum dish was securely mounted on an ~8 foot pole set into ~2 feet of concrete. While at the site I was able to scavenge...

    "Beer" BUD

Totally unexpected find. The dish was on one of the last undeveloped properties near what was the west edge of the city now surrounded by new housing. Twenty years ago there was nothing but acreages and small ranches.

    "Beer" BUD

I travel back and forth between the two locations regularly. The pole from this BUD is a half hour from home in the same city where we currently live. If I can scrounge it I will grab it just cuz its available for free, but there is lots of other pipe around here in the vicinity of the cabin. A...

    "Beer" BUD

So, I picked up a solid 8.5 foot spun aluminum BUD yesterday for the price of a case of Miller Genuine Draft. ?This is the first of the 3 I picked up this summer where I have had to pay anything other than my time, travel and gas for the vehicle. The unit was located at a house that is going...

Help with C band satellite dish install (Any help would be appreciated)

When I flashed my Coolsat 8100 with the final factory firmware I used the cable that came with my Viewsat 2000. This would seem to support the 8000 also requiring a null modem cable.
