How Long Have You Had Your BUD?

Got mine off of craigslist less than a year ago. Winegard Pinnacle 10ft. Been stored indoors for almost 10yrs. He wanted $80 for it. When I saw that it was a buttonhook feed, I told him that I wasn't interested. Then he told me he would sell it for $20-$30, so I took it for $20. Great dish...

    NPS -- no rehit

@tvropro, re: "I myself can't see the use of having a 4DTV if your not going to subscribe." Thanks, I just had a 922 given to me and really don't think that I'd want to subscribe to programming and from your post, not much to see otherwise. It was purchased new from Skyvision in 2002. After...

    Adventures in Dish Hunting 2009

I saw this Birdview dish on the way to my son's father-in-law ranch in south Texas. The house is vacant and there is nothing but farm land around the place. I couldn't get any info on the owner of the property and I'm not going to try to get the dish for myself. Thought I'd post pictures and...

    Pics of my set-up

Nice install, looks like my Winegard Pinnacle. I didn't have to change the elevation or declination, because my dish came from 30 miles south of my location. All I did was move the dish to the top of the arc, then turn it on the pole to a strong transponder on my TS satellite, then lock it down...

    DSR922 + Dish on Austin Craigslist (6-27-9)

I saw that one. I'm south of Austin about 80 miles. The guy is pretty smart, for not giving up the 922 until the dish is loaded on the truck.

C-Band Mounts - Looking for Options

I found my 4" pipe at a salvage yard. A new 10' length was $75. They allowed me to walk around the salvage yard and look for a used one. I found a 8 ft one within 15 minutes. It was $18. I got dirty carrying it back to the office, but saved quite a bit and the length was perfect. Good Luck

    Craiglist-Chicago Free C-band dish/Receiver

I have never been successful at getting to the free cband dishes on craigslist. They go pretty fast down here in South Texas and my best guess is that the aluminum & steel are separated and sold at the salvage yards. I'm not currently looking for another one, but that's been my experience down...

    I want cband...

Fizzle, I once worked with a guy at the phone company that must have been just like you when he was a kid. If I could have bought him for what he was worth and sold him for what he thought he was worth, I'd be a multi-millionaire.

    Can I use a CorotorPak on a Fortec FS6D w/ Polar Mount?

That's a museum quality sculpture! Take it to a art gallery in New York City.

Winegard Pinnancle install - need advice

Thanks Calsulfide, I used a lot of rebar, even put a piece through the pipe (learned that from you guys) to keep the pole from turning.

Winegard Pinnancle install - need advice

Yes I used a phillips screw driver. I'm really please how the panels came together. I had a little bit of trouble with the last panel but eventually got it flush. It has a buttonhook feed that has a cband lnb on it. At this time, I don't intend to use it for ku. Speaking of the f/d the manual...

Winegard Pinnancle install - need advice

Thanks Turbosat, I got a long way to go, but I'll get there with help from all of the satelliteguys. The satisfaction today was almost as good as when I blind scanned 97.0w the 1st time, on my first fta system, a little more than 3 years ago and saw all of that foreign tv.

Winegard Pinnancle install - need advice

Whoo-hoo!!! My wife and I got the dish on the mount with no outside help. She's the best helper I could ask for on any project that we undertake. I left the mount on the pole like many suggested & swung the mount against the pole and tied it off. Then, like Anole suggested rolled the dish...

C & Ku Cable run from dish to house

Cadsulfide, all I have now is a small Kubota14hp tractor with turf tires. It won't pull a cultivator shovel. I bought a middle buster for my old 40hp tractor when I bought this property to try to dig a trench for electricity to my well pump. Didn't even scratch the surface. One thing I don't...

C & Ku Cable run from dish to house

phlatwound, My wife has been suggesting that I try my son-in-law's Poulan tiller. I told her it would dig up too much of the yard. Never thought, that I might be able to take off the outside tines. That might be the answer. I'll check into that. I do have a lot of rocks, but when I built my...

C & Ku Cable run from dish to house

Calsulfide, thanks again for the reply. I will be using the ribbon cable temporarily on the ground for sure. Home Depot has a walk behind trencher for $150 a day and I've priced out conduit, elbows, sprinkler wire (longest I found was 100'), so that wouldn't be an option if I want a full run...

Does anyone do any C/Ku satellite DXing???

The best that I've ever done in South Texas is nss7 @22 degrees. Only picked up one channel, the Reuters News Service on the Carribean footprint. My sg2100 wouldn't quite get to 30 west (Cuban baseball), so I unscrewed the East stop and used a plastic adhesive glue to move the stop. Worked great...

C & Ku Cable run from dish to house

Cadsulfide, I appreciate your advice. I'll give it some thought, since I'm at least a couple of weeks from starting that part of the project. Right now I'm just trying to gather what I'll need. Just keep in mind that I intend to mount a weatherproof box (above ground) on a pipe, next to a tree...

Thanks, It'll sure save a little money to use that piece of ribbon cable.

C & Ku Cable run from dish to house

My dish install is on hold, waiting on family members to help me put the 10 footer on the mount, so I started thinking about how I am going to get the cable from the dish to the house. I am also going to put a motorized Primestar near the bud. I have been dreading digging a trench deep enough...

Winegard Pinnancle install - need advice

Thanks, that was my biggest concern. Now I will have to go to the store & buy stuff to grill steaks. That's the only way I can get my brother-in-laws out here to help hoist that dish up.

Winegard Pinnancle install - need advice

Pendragon, that'll work too. The reason I was thinking about cutting off some of the pole was just looking at the mount on the pole, it looks like, with the dish on the mount, it would be hard to get to the lnb from a 6 ft ladder because of having to reach over the edge of the dish to get to it...

Winegard Pinnancle install - need advice

I'll leave it where it is in picture 2 & tie the mount to the pole so it doesn't swing, then try to get the dish up & start a bolt. First one will be the hardest, then I would think I can swing it up to start the other bolts. No sideways mounts!! Man, glad it's not 12 foot. The hard part is yet...
