C band set up - cannot lock on any birds

you said the declination adds another 7 degrees? Is it suppose to add or substract? I am under the impression the declination setting forces the dish to loook downward 7 degrees more to match the SAT signal elevation. Just a thought? Can you meassure your Dish elevation? (some use a flat board...

    Fortec 6' / 1.8M Setup

as per this calculation method Satellite finder, how to point dish with magnetic north, azimuth and elevation program calculator. . set your inclinometer on the third picture at 40.67 and the declination should be 5.56 therefore dish elevation at Zenith is 43.77. this is with the actuator at...

    24" Actuator getting more noisy

mine died only 16 months old , several plastic gears inside broke several teeth. It is been several months now and not only MOTECK (if they acctually exist) do not respond my emails, faxes but apparently they also do not respond to an authorised dealer/reseller emails neither. get ready for the...

    6 foot dish and dvb-s dvb-s2 CBand

you have made me rethink upgrading to this kind of setup then. a bigger dish is a no go for me but better signal performance via better LNB/feed I can try that. lets hope there is no much adjacent interference for the signals that I want to get if I go ahead with this.

Problems Installing Chaparral Superfeed Single Polarity Feed Horn

assuming you have a polar mount dish (although without an actuator arm or in other words a fixed dish) I think you better aim the dish to true south and install the Feed horn and LNB as 0 skew (make sure it is properly set for 0 horizontal) then using some sort of pipe or metallic broom...

    Intelsat 701 @ 180 E

everybody is here the problem is most of us are outside of the C band footprint of Intelsat 701. there are very few members here from that side of the world, lets hope one of them sees this and help you. It has 1 ku beam for the USA west coast as Iceberg pointed out so maybe someone can take a...

    AMC 3 @ 87 degrees and mpeg 4

yes it does, FTV HD is one example I remember. Even the SonicView 8000HD displayed that FTV HD MPEG4 DVB-S signal. In this case RTV Mux like the Uruguayan Mux at Hispasat the CS8000/8100 does a great job , signals that the sonicview is unable to lock because they are DVB-S2.

    G-box issue help requested.....

E-2 means no pulses have been read. either because the dish did not moved or it did but the sensor failed to send a pulse or it did not received the pulse. But it has nothing to do with your actuator being faster or able to send more/less pulses per inch. I am more inclined to beleive it...

Multiple NASA TV Channels w/One Receiver?

I remember old SD receivers like the CS6000 or CW650 allow you to create a mosaic of several continuos channels in the same TP in different arrays , like 4x4 or 2x2 or 3x2 and the likes. They are all SD receivers but since the HD channel carries the same video as the first SD channel it could be...

    alignment issues

I guess Cham beat me to it. your polar star or north star will tell you if your mount is properly set for true south azimuth and polar elevation (not the dish or signal elevation). your latitude equals your polar elevation measured as lak7 picture(you do not have to substract). a common error...

Taking down a Unimesh 10 footer, piece by piece?

Alone? In a country of almost 300 millions!!!!, you have to be kidding me toucan-man!, lol. Just kidding or may I say facing the truth with a smile. Alone it would be imposible I think , but I beleive it can be disassembled at least in half. I have a co-worker who dit it with a 12 feet Unimesh...

    FTA with my equipement

on that dish/setup , yes you can. well, most users here including me will envy having the 10 footer alone, imagine the Corotor II and who knows maybe even Norsat LNB's. the problem is that most FTA receivers on the market today do not have the capability to move the dish neither to control the...

    V-Box II problem: Er2

Do you hear the relays click at all? mine did the same with 1 direction of movement (while the other worked great and reversed when I reversed the wires) and I just had to knock the relay with my finger (well I have more than one finger obviously lol) then it started to work ever since.

    Finally getting started in Cband!

dmx 242 is a dual output C band LNBF therefore is single with LO 5150 Mhz. Dee-Ann , to move 2 BUD you need 2 controllers (V/G boxes), they could be conected in series like (was it crackt?) did very cleverly. 1 Vbox for say 10' BUD with odd numbered positions saved for up to 30 or 50...

Splitter 5-3000 MHz vs 5-2400MHz tp slave receivers

well B.J , a splitter rated at 1000 Mhz still allows higher frecuency signals to go through just that the losess will be higher than 3.5 dB (for a 2-way) so it can not guarantee performance above 1 GHz. Maybe in your case signal levels were acctually quite high due to optimal system setup...

Tracking / Focal / What signal are you all getting on Galaxy 12 (replaced 15)

Now that I just filled the gap between the pole and the mount cap with a plastic pipe (now the cap is perfectly plumb like the pole) and therefore it tracks the arc fully even on Ku (I finally get PBS on 125W with over 70 on 12180) I get that one with over 40 I think. The speed hd TP is...

setting up the actuator with the dish

no it will not. the limit switch will stop the motor from retracting the amr further. remember to set the "fully expanded" limit switch before moving the dish to avoid damaging it or the mount or the arm itself. my cs8100 is famous for telling the arm to extend fully without reason!!.

setting up the actuator with the dish

I take you live in Ct , therefore east of the mississipi like me in Toronto, therefore the jack for optimun results should be on the right/west side (otherwise will have to pull the dish from the lowest west point). As others have indicated 18 is too short for such a wide arc and even if it...

    Canal 1 in Intersat 805 @ 55w still on?

I have never managed to get it since I installed my one and only c bander 6 months ago or more but funny thing I get Panamericana TV out of the same TP 22 with a 90% Q on the CS 6000. As per Lyngsat there are 2 signals , the national and the international version. Try 3849H SR 3000.

    old dish new problems

lost my post . oh well, www.lyngsat.com for info on available channels www.dishpointer.com for info on look angles and how to aim the dish maybe your old receiver is analog only. unfortuanelly there are only less than a handful of analog channels. you need a digital DVB FTA satellite...

what size dish I need for c band Intelsat 9

Since you live in Mexico you should try any SKY Mexico TP since they are on 24x7 just to check signal levels. Although as per Lyngsat there is a FTA TV channel named SKY View. The rest are feeds on CONUS beams and as you said it requieres a Universal LNB. I get 58W C Band with a motorised 6...

Moving 6ft Polar Mount Dish without using Actuator

Probably because by the time you get the motor or actuator you might forget and then the GBOX might drive the dish past the limits and damage something. Also if there are hardware limits on the motor/actuator set those too since it could happen that the software limits could get overridden.

    Precision, Threaded Feed-horns ???

Wouldn't the Corotor II select polarity by using a servo to rotate the feed?. In that case the threaded feed would not be a problem for skew, right?.

    CS 8100 and VBOX

well , crackt was right about the 31 sats limit with the CS 8100 no matter which firmware you have. I guess I will have to live with that limitation or use the cs 6000 as the controller. Crackt , Have you tried editing the channel or sat list and then forcing the position numbers on it? if so...
