    Freesale in St Louis

Hi, haven't posted here for a while. Life changes made doing this hobby less of a priority. This place always helped me and I'd like to help someone looking to startup a C or Ku band hobby. I have an offset fixed fiberglass dish with a NPM. I never got around to working on this one. I was going...

    Adventures In Dish Hunting 2012

I picked up an 8' unimesh with polar mount and motor, two 4' fixed (channel master and Prodelin), and a NPRM for $10 The Uni has some bent panels, so I'll probably use the polar mount to move one of the 4 footers for a super Ku dish!

    105W Sanity Check

3920 is weaker than the others. Still there, with a new channel coming soon I doubt you'll see a thing with a six footer. I get it but this sat requires me to tweak my dish a bit to get a stronger signal. That tweaking throws off my Ku sats. I also found that the other TPs have to suffer a...

Most popular C-band Sats and Channels

A 4' mini-bud might net you a dozen english stations to you true south and a bit to either side. Don't expect Cband to pull anything near your horizon on a four footer. Ku on a 4' should do very well.

finally got my 6 ft dish setup

I don't want to distract you from your angle finding, but in the first set of pictures I noticed that your jack (motor) was fully retracted and pushed out too far to get a good arc. You want the jack to be out about half way when pointing at your true south. That way you'll have enough extension...

C BAND STEEL POST: WHERE TO GET A 3 1/2" ONE?

I got my 13' galvanized from a scrapper for $30. It was part of a fence he took down. he also had a 20' available. http://www.satelliteguys.us/c-band-satellite-discussion/198286-adventures-dish-hunting-2010-a.html#post2127909

Switch, Method or Drawing of 2 GBOXes on 1 Mover???

I have found that one is enough! :-) Is the 'mover' you mention the box or the motor? Do you mean one box -> 2 Gbox -> 2 dishes? Have you tried an switch in front of the two Gboxes? Or one box -> 2 Gbox -> one dish ? Or two boxes -> 2 Gbox -> one dish ?

    C-band install - how difficult?

Dishnetwork (circular) is easier than linear. Ploar mount? Start with your true south, skew set to 0. Strength = Connection(wiring) , Quality = Signal LNB Power should likely be on. dishpointer.com is helpful. a cheap angle finder is also helpful. It's only hard until you get the concept...

    Finally getting started in Cband!

Sounds like you're on the right track and beating yourself down without putting what you've learned into practice. Instead of going for the most complex setup on earth, start with one Cband and a few Ku (one 4x1 switch). Grow it from there, all the time keeping an eye on the big picture.
