    Mesh size for KU band

On another forum, tek2000 posted his feed system for picking up both C and Ku signals (both linear and circular). I am sure something like that would work amazing, but who has the expertise to make their own? The good news is that he said a commercial solution will be available very soon!

    Mesh size for KU band

Ku reception works fine on the 8ft mesh dish from Tek2000 that I own. I would say the Ku signal reception is about as strong as a dedicated 100cm solid offset. It can even pick up Dish Network signals whenver they are open (even though they use circular polarization). All kinds of channels like...

Best way to find first signal on C-band dish???

Pick a strong transponder. I always use The Weather Network on 107 West. Next, get the elevation for 107 WEst from Dishpointer. For me, that was 31 degrees. Now put your level on the highest point of the rim frame and adjust your dish until it shows 31 degrees. Now gently move your dish...

12 Foot Vs 10 Foot Dishes...

Can someone perhaps enlighten us as to how many more channels and which ones a 12 footer would get over a 10 footer? I have an 8 footer, and it get almost everything. If I upgraded to 10 ft, I would probably just get a lot more signal gain and perhaps lock a couple more channels, but...

The NBC HDs should come in loud and clear. You should even be able to scan in the "HITS" channels with your new 8 footer!

12 Foot Vs 10 Foot Dishes...

You are correct about pwrsurge. He owns an FTA store, whereas I sell nothing. The only reason pwrsurge attacks anyone selling C-Band dishes, or anyone mentioning a vendor that sells C-Band dishes or mocking anyone who starts a thread about demand for C-Band dishes, is because he has a vested...

12 Foot Vs 10 Foot Dishes...

Well, I have to disagree with you on some points. For a C-Band beginner, the 8ft or 10ft dish is just fine. They will get the majority of signals. Furthermore, I don't think all signals are meant for commercial operations. For example, the international programming is usually state run and...

12 Foot Vs 10 Foot Dishes...

Pictures I posted were 100% legit and I stand by them. They were my own personal pics. If another member owns a Tek2000 dish, post your pics of your dish to confirm that my pics are indeed real. It seems like pwrsurge has serious psychological problems and is obsessed with anyone selling...

Tek2000 Mesh Satellite Pics (Fake Pics ?!)

Get a life pwrsurge! Your behaviour is outright abhorrent. You must have serious psychological problems if you spend your time trying to discover where a particular DBS dish came from. Dish, Directv, Bell, etc., all get their dishes manufactured in China - so what. Yet here you are selling...

12 Foot Vs 10 Foot Dishes...

Simple rule of thumb is this: the reflector gain is proportional to the square of the dish diameter, all other things being equal. Thus, a 10ft dish will have 1.5625 more gain than an 8ft dish. (10/8)^2=1.5625 This is equivalent to 1.94 dB gain. (10*log1.5625=1.94) A 12ft dish will have...

Can Magnetizing Of A Steel Dish Be A Criminal Behavior?

Any metal can be used as a reflector (e.g. steel, aluminum, copper, gold, etc). Remember how radio waves originate, namely, from electric charges oscillating within a metal. When these radio waves encounter another piece of metal (like your dish reflector) they put into motion the free electric...

I posted pictures once before of my 8ft mesh dish: http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/tek2000-mesh-satellite-pics-fake-pics.333398/ If you want more pics of the 10ft or 12ft, I would just email the vendor.

12 Foot Vs 10 Foot Dishes...

I got my 8ft mesh dish from Tek2000. They now have 10ft and 12ft mesh dishes in stock. They ship from Ontario. I am happy with 8ft, but 10ft would have been nice! I think 12ft must be overkill, but I don't have one to try!

Glad to see other members own this same dish and are posting their own pics! Maybe those pics are fake too? Perhaps we need more "expert" digital image forensic analysis to show they are fakes from the 1980s???

You are a liar. I spent about an hour of my time and took those pictures this afternoon. Anyway, this is my last post on this forum. I don't see any point in taking any more abuse. If this is how you treat your members here, I suggest they find another forum to get information on C Band satellite.

The ribs are hollow but I think they are made of steel. The whole dish probably weighs about 50-60lbs. In comparison, by sadoun steel dish weighed over 100lbs. Besides its better performance, this mesh dish just "looks" a lot better than a grey steel one.

For the record, here are the C-Band transponders I CANNOT scan in with this 8ft Dish: 37.4W: 3868 V 43.1W: 3975 V 78.0W: 3885 V 113W and 116.8W: I can scan most but not all transponders. The satellite beam on these birds is pointed towards Mexico and S. America. Still, it picks up quite a...
