Roof Mount a 8 footer. Possible?

I've posted pics. of two different setups, the first being a 10-footer on a 30' piece of well pipe. I did this one in 1990 at my old house. The second is mounted to a peaked roof using a tri-pod style mount and two long pieces of angle iron that first get bolted to the roof, then the tri-pod...

Adventures in dish hunting and what we find

Last summer I picked up one of those 5-footers (unimesh) Radio Shack G5 dishes, perfect shape but it had a fixed mount, so I found an old polar mount from a 10-footer (the mesh was gone) and retro-fitted that. Worked dandy with an old VonWeise actuator. I've since procurred four old analog...

ENTER HERE: Win a C Band Dish & LNB from SatelliteAV!(Contest Over)

Well honey, as you know I currently have one 5' mesh on a pole with the 'arm' on it. You have also noticed (and commented on numerous times) about the other 4 Primestar stationary dishes (she actually called them big gray eggs). You've said you're tired of seeing them on the south side of the...

    Quick C-band Help!!

If your polar mount (or az/el mount) for your dish is a standard mount, you will need a 31/2" outside diameter pipe. A 4" pipe will not fit.

Have been given a 10 Foot BUD - Have questions

I've been messing around with fta for awhile now and have come to the conclusion that unless you have at least a 6' solid dish, your results on both the c and ku side will be disappointing. My last experiment over the last three days was with a 10' mesh c/ku dish and a bsc621 c/ku lnbf. The...

    Old Satellite Names

Thanks Mike. I forgot about that. I will have it looped through my Pansat. I was just wondering about the vertical/horizontal. In the old days, for example: on all the Westar sats. odd channels would be vertical, even channels-horizontal Telstar sats. would be the...

    Old Satellite Names

Tomorrow I'll be (hopefully) putting the finishing touches on installing my 10' c/ku mesh and programming an old G.I. 2400R receiver for the analog portion of my fta experience. My memory is not quite what it use to be so I thought some of you old timers may be able to help. Seems to me there...

What are your C-band (digital) levels?

Ice, is that a mesh or solid. I'm hoping to 'peg' the meter on c-band digital with the 10-foot mesh, but I'm still a little nervous about ku digital.

What are your C-band (digital) levels?

I'll be replacing my 5' mesh with a 10-footer next week and am wondering what kind of signal levels others are getting, particularly on the digital channels. I'll be using my bsc621 and would also be curious what kind of levels you're getting on ku digital. (Best I can do on the 'nets' on G4C...

    Help choosing a BUD

Looking around the area works dandy. I've found three 10-footers that way. One of them had damaged screen panels, so I gave it to a friend of mine to 'scrap.' The other two were perfect, and FREEEEEEEE!

    Can't get video on G3C 4040

I'll try every option when I get home tonight. Yesterday I tried every conceivable combo. including blind scan, tp scan, network scan, manual entry.....you name it, I tried it. "I've not yet begun to fight!"

    Can't get video on G3C 4040

By bsc621 doesn't have lines on it....but it's worth a try I guess. Is it possible I'm not inputting the right VPID & APID's. I'm getting them off Lyngsat? Like I said before, when I input VPID & APID for Wings for example, I use VPID:52 APID:51 then scan and get a channel: Ch-A but just...

    Can't get video on G3C 4040

I get tons of feeds, both digital and analog on G3C. I've been watching horse racing, inn channel, et.... and by the way, on some of the racing tp.'s I'm only getting a 25 signal and it does not break up...but can't get 4040??? even with a 50 signal

    Can't get video on G3C 4040

Any idea why I can't get any video on G3C 4040 digital. I get a 50 signal but when doing a blind scan it comes up no channels. I tried manual entering the PIDs and did get one channel listed as: Ch-A but no audio or video, just a black screen???

    General Instruments 2400R HELP!!!

Thanks dfergie. I'll have to try and find a 6pin cable. Fortuantely I don't need mine to work a polarotor, I got one of those dandy bsc621 c/ku lnbf's.

    General Instruments 2400R HELP!!!

I just picked up an old 2400R and a 2000ps antenna positioner, but there is no 6 pin cable with it that I assume would connect the two. I see on the back of the receiver there are ports to connect the ribbon cable from an actuator. So, does one really need the 2000ps or will the 2400R run the...

    Pansat 2700 & moving a 5' mesh

Thanks Shawn, the link you showed is the exact actuator I bought from Cascade last year. I have it hooked up to one of my P* dishes....works dandy, but I'm afraid it won't have the strength to move a 5-footer. I'm thinking I'll end up putting a polar mount on it and a standard actuator having...

    Pansat 2700 & moving a 5' mesh

Anyone have any idea how to move a 5' mesh or 4' solid dish with a Pansat 2700A? I'm not sure if anyone makes a diseqc actuator that would move a dish of that size!? I have my Pansat slaved to a G.I. 2400R for analog but would prefer to move the dish with the Pansat...........

    5' B.u.d.

Well I finally got a signal on G4 with my 5' mesh. I was able to get a 75 signal on the 'nets' and the religious analog channels came in without sparklies, also at the same position I can get a 45 signal on KCSG!!! I'm happy, but still have to rig up a polar mount and motor for it. I'm still...

    5' B.u.d.

THanks again Ice, maybe that's my problem, I'm trying to pick up the 'nets' and maybe I need to run a blind scan because I had manally entered the freq. etc.. for the nets using the polarity listed on Lyngsat.
