    Winegard 10ft actuator suggestions?

Thanks for the help/suggestions guys. Lone Gunman: Yeah, the heim joint (thanks for the term!) plastic plug is hollow and seems to be very brittle.. When trying to "massage" it out of the end of the arm, pieces of it started to chip away pretty easily.

    Winegard 10ft actuator suggestions?

I'm not sure what exactly it's called, but it's the pivot joint at the end of the actuator arm that attaches to the polar mount. See pic attached.

    Winegard 10ft actuator suggestions?

I did end up disassembling the JGS actuator and could easily clean and re-lubricate it, but the plastic/nylon eyelet on the end of the actuator looks suspect and I don't know where to get a new one. It has seized up - tried putting some grease and loosening it up, but it's still really stiff...

    Winegard 10ft actuator suggestions?

I've recently acquired a Winegard Pinnacle 10ft dish and the JGS Engineering brand actuator needs to be replaced. A few years ago I had a KTI dish with the Venture actuator that came with it. It was made in such a way that I couldn't take it apart and re-lubricate it properly. This actuator...

    Name That Positioner!

Well, I just answered my own question.. Dumped the program EPROM and it had a copyright string: "MTI 4100 Remote IR Antenna Drive Copyright 1984, PenTec/MTI By: John C. Aiken" Time to start google-ing I suppose..

    Name That Positioner!

Found this for a buck in a pile of old electronics the other day, and it appears to work.. however, I don't have any information about it, or how it's supposed to be hooked up. Figuring out how to hook the actuator up will be simple, but sensor and skew servo might be a little harder. Bonus...

    Prodelin fun!

So, I suppose this is actually about messing around with a mini-BUD.. hope it's ok to post in this sub forum with the big-guns! I've had a Prodelin 1.2m fiberglass dish for quite some time, but never did much with it. Hated the BUC sucking up my other polarity on the OMT. I was curious what...

    4DTV Receiver Compatibility

Unfortunately my response to this falls into the realm of hack-talk. It's a part of one of my many long-term projects that gets neglected because I move every few months, go to school, and work. I may still end up SOL and need to just buy a non-dead receiver, but discussing my methods of...

    4DTV Receiver Compatibility

Thanks for the info! Guess I'm just going to have to try harder to make my box spit out video for ZK or FP stuff without need for authing.. I spent 5 bucks on my receiver and I'll be damned if I pay any more money for another Motorola-controlled brick.

    4DTV Receiver Compatibility

What DC2 receivers are capable of being sub'd to 4DTV services? I hear a lot about the DSR-410, DSR920/21/22, 905 sidecar - but what about the commercial receivers? the DSR-4200V, the 4410, 4800, etc etc? Can I get one of these authorized for use on Sky Vision/SRL programming packages? And...

    C-Band VSAT System

I believe it's pointed that way because of roof work done in years past. Also, I know of about 4 Prodelin set-ups that I could get for free today, but they all lack the feedhorn/mounting tray making them rather useless to me. *cough* Wait until Edward Jones offices get converted to fibre and...

    C-Band VSAT System

Is offset an issue/concern? What about being round? I'm guessing this causes signal loss of some sort? The custom feedhorn is concerning though, but I'm not worried about being fixed - I knew that from the beginning and that is what I'd be using it for.

    C-Band VSAT System

Images attached. A removal crew has been assembled and may actually be down tomorrow, if not the next few days. Ideas as to what this is?

    C-Band VSAT System

I recently found what appears to be a C-Band VSAT dish with the BUC, OMT, LNB and reject filter available for me to pluck off a roof for free. Owner says it has been unused for 17 years, and was previously used by a Farmers Insurance agent/agency. It is a large not-quite-fully parabolic...

    DSR-4200V = Brick?

My LNB settings were apparently wrong(?!). Even though I had selected C/Horz., the "Basic Setup" page said I was set for Ku-FSS. I did a factory reset and now I'm back to audio and no video. The best I could have hoped for! edit: wait a second, if my settings were wrong... how the hell did...

    DSR-4200V = Brick?

Yeah, when I lock on a DCII stream, i get the correct time for...some place.. maybe GMT? I've done a master reset/auth reset from the install menu before i changed the battery and it was still able to get channel data for various streams. Now when I do it, it gives me garbage. My virtual...

    DSR-4200V = Brick?

See, this is where I stop understanding the situation. The battery was already dead when I did my initial testing of the receiver. How does putting a new battery magically make it lose it's unit ID? -- and how did it work initially, but not now? Does the fully-integrated decryption chip...

    DSR-4200V = Brick?

All right, I'm back to playing with my DSR-4200V that I bought a while back for 5 bucks. When I originally hooked it up, I was able to get Music Choice - audio, but no video. I tried the mux that had NWCN and the same thing happened, audio but no video. My searching (then, and just now) seems...

    Diamond LNB

Has anybody heard of "Diamond LNB" brand LNBs? I just got a C-band one for free, the sticker is halfway peeled off. It says it has a 20K noise temp, 65db gain. Another label has "NII5200G" on it. Does anybody know if this is phase stable or if there's any way to check?

    C-SPAN going digital

C-SPAN and C-SPAN 2 are going digital here in a few weeks. According to the person I spoke with on the phone C-SPAN 2 will be first. With C-SPAN and C-SPAN 2 there will be "dual illumination" of both the analog and digital transponders initially.. and then the analog ones will go away. Oh...

    DMX741U issues

Alright, it's been a while, and I've been playing around with this thing A LOT.. swapping LNBs and scalar rings, and moving and adjusting everything in sight. I finally caved and went to the local satellite/wiring store in town and got a used Chaparral Corotor with LNBs (made by drake, C band...

    DMX741U issues

on 3990 i'm getting 90% quality, and on 12146 i'm getting 40% AT BEST. This is even with plugging the cable directly into the Ku band lnb, bypassing it's internal switch. I've stopped worring about tracking the arc correctly for the time being and dicked with the elevation and azimuth. I...

    DMX741U issues

Well, I've managed to get C-Band working pretty damn well with the LNB... but Ku is still awful. On Galaxy 19, everything on C-band pushes 80/90% on quality, but on Ku most of the transponders are just unwatchable, hovering anywhere from 10 to 40% quality. I'm wondering if the jumper wire they...

    DMX741U issues

Face Nut screws? What are those? Also, I can't get 125W because of a tree... but I'll be fixing it's wagon here soon.. After fiddling with it some more, I've gotten some better numbers.. I suppose I had unreasonable expectations for Ku

    DMX741U issues

So, I've been outside fiddling with it for a few hours... and I've managed to make C band quality numbers awful, but Ku work "better." I still have gotten better quality numbers on my 3ft dish for Ku. I think I just need to keep playing with it. Lak7: removing the plastic cover certainly...
