Wild Blue Set Up Help

Wild Blue Screwing Me on Installation-HELP?

I am renting a house where Wild Blue is the only high speed internet available. The house already has the dish installed and pointed, and it also has the cable ran and the modem. The problem I am having is that Wild Blue says they need to have a technician out to hook it up, and they want to charge me $90 bucks for it. Was wondering if I can just hook it up and it will work or what I have to do to get it to work without having someone come do it for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was under the impression the APA canceled out frequencies other than the beam that the customer points to. IE if the customer is on the edge of 2 beams it will only allow the one they are going to use to pass.

That is true, it is a filter which attenuating adjacent transmitters will allow a "better" peak of the dish for a particular tx.

the apa is not necessary for the modem to lock. If the dish is properly aligned to the correct beam, then you can connect the modem directly to it, and it will lock.
I do it all the time. I have a WB dish setup at the office, we connect the modem, let it update firmware, lock... and occasionally provision, all without an apa.
It does the same thing as if the modem gets unplugged or whatever, you plug it back in, give it a minute or two to lock, and thats it.

O, and just so ya know... where our office is located, we are on the borders of 3 beams. We use 3 different beams in our service area depending on what part of the area they live in.

If its an older unit, it's likely a Anikf2. Which means it's more than likely you will be directed to the WB1 bird. Which means you will need a different tria. Which means you will need a service call. Which likely means you (or tech) will need an APA to re-lock to new bird.

Note: if your not in an overlapping beam area, you will never need an APA. I never require one.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

Jerry made himself General Manager after he bought the team but make no mistake Jimmy engineered that trade. As well as a lot of others at the time.

Jimmy Johnson is a football guy. Jerry Jones is a marketer (hustler).

When I see a football player get a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (like taunting) in a close game, I often wonder what he was thinking. Was he thinking, I'm doing everything I can to make this a better team and help win a championship? Or, was he saying to himself, I want everyone to notice how great I am?

Johnson inspires one, Jones the other.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy - Paramount+

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

Here i am over a year later and just finished season 1. Not great but not as bad as I was expecting. Did not care for the barefoot captain stuff but overall ok. Actually looking forward to see what they did for season 2.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

Where is it going to come from -- specifically?

Why do you think cleaning technology won't improve in the next few hundred years? HEPA filtration was invented as part of the Manhattan Project.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that. ;)

Say, I don't wear socks or shoes in my house either. But for a captain in Star Fleet it looks bad to be walking around the academy with no shoes. Gives off 1960 Hippie vibes.

IFixIt has published their Teardown and they had some positive things to say about the iPhone Duo. It still showed some dust ingress into the hinge assembly but seemed otherwise well-sealed.

But with a considerable number of reports of the main screen dying with similar failures, AppleCare+ should be a no-brainer for this phone.

If the review is like the article, oi! Eighteen paragraphs into the review and... all they've done is not really talk at all about the actual thing they are reviewing.

Halfway into the "written" review, I know more about how the writer "thinks" than I do about what they are writing about. I understand their politics, their self-overestimated understanding of film, their inability to be funny.

Takes about 22 paragraphs to get to one that starts "Anyway, the story kicks off...". Talk about Slop! 😂
