DISH NETWORK BECOMES FIRST PAY-TV PROVIDER TO OFFER TELEVISION SERIES IN 1080P RESOLUTION

A&E Network Delivers The Beast in Industry-First 1080p IP-VOD to DISH Network

Englewood, Colo. – Jan. 16, 2009 – DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH), the nation's third largest pay-TV provider and the digital transition leader, along with A&E Network, today emerged as the first pay-TV provider to offer a television series in 1080p resolution quality comparable to Blu-Ray disc™.

A&E's new drama series The Beast is now available to DISH Network subscribers via its Internet Protocol Video On Demand (IP-VOD) platform in 1080p the day after a new episode premieres. DISH Network® subscribers with an MPEG-4 HD DVR receiver, a high definition television that is 1080p compatible, and a broadband connection will be able to access, download and watch The Beast.
"We are thrilled to work with A&E in pioneering these efforts by taking television to the next level using 1080p format," said Jessica Insalaco, Chief Marketing Officer for DISH Network. "As the first pay-TV provider to first offer VOD movies and now offer a TV series in 1080p, DISH Network continues to lead the industry when it comes to delivering the best quality programming options, DVR technology and overall value for our customers."

"We are excited to work with DISH Network to present The Beast on their innovative IP-VOD platform," said Mark Garner, VP Distribution, Marketing and Business Development of AETN. "The Beast represents the best-in-class drama programming viewers have come to expect from A&E and was the ideal choice to be the first series presented in stunning 1080p."

In The Beast, an unorthodox but effective FBI veteran Charles Barker (Patrick Swayze) trains a rookie partner (Travis Fimmel) in his own hard-edged and psychologically intense style while being investigated by a secret Internal Affairs team. Set on the gritty streets of Chicago, Barker hazes his new partner as they work undercover, brilliantly manipulating situations, constantly testing him, and pushing him to delve deeper into his "roles."

To access the DISH Network's 1080p IP-VOD content, customers with an MPEG-4 HD DVR receiver need to select the "DVR" button on their DISH Network remote control and chose the DishONLINE feature. They can also access the IP-VOD service by selecting "Menu" on their remote, followed by DISH On Demand and DishONLINE. Subscribers will see a variety of content and must select movies with 1080p after the titles in order to get the comparable to Blu-Ray disc™ quality films.
DISH Network's advanced HD DVRs lead the industry, winning more Editors' Choice Awards* than any other receiver. DISH Network's ViP®722 HD DVR operates two televisions in separate rooms and has up to 500 hours of DVR storage capacity. Additional storage space is available by connecting an external hard drive via the ViP722's USB ports.

Consumers can sign up for the best high definition programming and service in the industry with DISH Network's TurboHD programming packages, the only all-HD packages on the market, starting at $24.99 per month. TurboHD is available in three separate tiers and includes special "turbo-charged" features and benefits such as the best quality HD available including 1080p resolution where available and the most-watched HD channels that may be viewed on any TV – analog, digital or high definition.

Current DISH Network customers looking to add the industry's best high definition experience can get a "turbo-charged" HD package for as little as $10 more per month.

For more information about DISH Network's 1080p programming, new HD channels and TurboHD system and packages, visit DISH Network - 1.888.825.2557 or call 1-800-333-DISH (3474).

I think we just need to accept that the behavior is random.

Well, I pulled the power plug on my receiver. Let it sit for 20 minutes, plugged it back in, let it sit for 20, deleted 105, redownloaded 105 ... and the results ...

Drum roll ...

Still no joy. Time to send an email to Dish ... again. !protest
J
started working on HDMI at my work and realized that they might be using the EDID info to determine if your tv supports 1080p24. Since I am going through my Oknyo 606 first I was hoping it was not sending the correct EDID to my 722. So I directly hooked up my Pioneer 5020 and downloaded THe beast episode 105 while bypassing my AVR. I Just finished downloading it and still 1080i:mad:

Email tech support too and of course they had no clue.

lastest firmware update fixed 1080p for me

This should hit a lot of folks with a dose of reality. I can only imagine how much more common this will get as AI progresses.

I read several stories on this and most are clear as mud. They say a lot of the stolen bitcoin has been "locked out" and that everyone will be made financially whole. I guess time will tell if either of these statements are actually true.

The "Secure Asset Fund" had about $1 billion in reserves... in Bitcoin.

The fund started in 2018, so it may take a while to make investors whole, much less replenish the fund.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

It states the average amount they are under water is OVER $7,000. :eek

Personally, I tend to be the type that drives a vehicle for a lot of years....do my own oil changes and other fluid changes. Just replaced the spark plugs and a couple coils. Youtube is great for things like this.

I'm pretty sure the most you can get is seven.

What America can't afford is the payments on $80,000+ pickups and SUVs and $40,000+ crossovers.

Finished season 3 last night. Still one of my favorite shows.

Anyone else wonder if there might be something else going on with Callum? Seems to me he has too much access to Russian intelligence.

Over the past few weeks, I have had problems connecting to streaming services (Netflix, HBO et al). When I go to the TV's native Channels, I have no problem. The Dish internet troubleshooter shows I have a good internet connection. I'm wondering whether it's an issue with my internet provider or a problem with the Dish software on the Hopper Plus. Anyone else seeing this?

I have a DISH Hopper 3 (Software H713) with Hopper Plus (Software P15403). I have not tried streaming services but I primarily watch TVB Jadeworld international package which is only available by streaming and when I have an issue, I usually have to go to a non-streaming satellite channel first before the streaming channels will work again. What software versions do you have and what is the error message if any are showing on your screen? or is that Dish downloading logo just stuck and never finishes?

I'm on H713 on the Hopper and P15403 on the Hopper Plus. It shows internet connection issues and doesn't finish loading the various services. I see the "loading circle going around. Sometimes I get a message saying that the service is having trouble loading my content and to check the internet connection.

Did it ever work correctly before? Hard to say what the problem is. Usually for streaming, it will show the Dish logo with lines sweeping down to show downloading, never seen the circle issue. Did you try a manual reboot, red button reset, power cord unplug/replug to see if it makes a difference.

Might be worth just to ditch the hopper plus. No issues here on h713

Buy a roku and dump the hopper plus you'll be better off. If you have a smart tv you don't need either one. No hopper plus here and no issues!!!
