.....and then Bobby Ewing steps out of the shower to reveal that the last two years of what you though was really going on was nothing more than a dream.

The end.

Really?

No, really?

Is this the most imaginative ending these writers could come up with?

So okay, the "pre shower scene" portion of this episode wrapped up all the questions posed within the 1973 time frame. The only question was how did he get there.

We already found out he didn't care to leave 1973.
We could have left the "metal bug" scenes to the medical "nano-doohickie" explanation from 2008/9
The "trouble with father" question was completed quite nicely in 1973.
All was well and the series could have wrapped up here. How?

We could have had a final 1973 scene with Sam and "no-nuts"---pardon, Detective 3rd Grade "no-nuts" kissing passionately as the screen goes to a heavenly white and had a "Sopranos" type ending (only more satisfying)
---or the heavenly white could have had a slight sound of a heart monitor measuring sinus rhythm and the program ends a la "Who's Life is it Anyway?" (A movie with Richard Dryfus)
---or for those that want to be told everything, the heavenly white screen dissolves to a long beep and a face of Sam in a 2008 hospital bed (which was slightly hinted at just before the big surprise). Knowing that Sam dies happy even if it was within his own mind. Though it would have still had some of the pitfalls of a "it was all just a dream" plot device, at least it would have been more satisfying.

There were sooooo many possibilities.

But no. Some one went though Rod Serling's discarded plot twist files to come up with the most ridiculous and tired plot twist ever devised. Didn't Jack Klugman deal with this in a Twilight Zone Episode? It was all just a dream and he really IS a spaceman! Everything and everyone we met were a figment of the imagination with no redemption except the reconciliation with his dad. And that seemed forced since this was already addressed but more satisfyingly during the 1973 sequence.

The 2035 story answered every question posed within the series, but in the most dissatisfying way ever!

I did have a laugh about "President Obama and her sister visiting their sick dad. :)

But the 2035 segment of the story was a joke to me.

For the record this is the third "It was all a dream" series I know of and both of the others did it sooooo much better.

Bob Newhart waking up next to Suzanne Plachette (sp) was one of the defining moments in TV History! It was imaginative and very, very funny.

And the ending of "St. Elsewhere" being all the imaginings of an autistic boy looking at a snow globe fit the wacky pseudo-comedy series.

Having this series end in a 2035 space shot to Mars like the aforementioned "Shower Scene" from "Dallas" did not fit the entire look and feel of the series. (regardless of the series' name) Dallas is infamous for this stunt to revive a character we saw die. Life on Mars carries on the infamy to, in my mind, weasel out of actually creating an imaginative end.

A giant boooo and a long hiss from me on the disappointing end.

I did not see the British counterpart. If it had a similar ending, I will not make the effort to catch that series either.

See ya
Tony

Thought the ending was very rushed and put in at the last minute. Made it look cheap and crappy.

Sure wish this showed could have lasted a little longer. I was just starting to really like it the last few episodes! Tried watching the BBC America version and it was just no the same.

I think most that saw the English version first would say just the opposite. I gave the US one into the third episode before I checked out. The original just seemed a lot more authentic, and the US one was just rewriting the same episodes each week at the beginning of its run. Check out Ashes to Ashes(back to 1981) on BBC now, I like it better than both.

Just get it the same way you get Doctor Who when it comes out. ;)

Screenshots and clips of the "good" parts can be found online easily.

I felt the same way, after seeing the BBC version first (BBCA showed a marathon right before the ABC premiere). The ending of the BBC version was a lot more satisfying than the ABC ending.

Haven't checked out Ashes to Ashes yet, I probably will during the summer when the network drought hits.

Guess I am in the minority here, but since I new that was the last episode, I was hoping it was an ending that no one would expect, and they lived up to it! I was laughing the whole time. Loved it!

IS Amiko MIRA 3 any good ???
Can you recommend the best to cover all bases. NO BEEPS on certain channels 101w (NEWSMAX ,NEWS NATION), a clock that keeps working STEADY for timed recording ,solid unit with good lifespan. My Amiko died AND my Linkbox has NO Favorites Button and BEEPS on many channels. Picking up 105 west with a NEW SHED IN THE Way with 6 foot Cband ..95 percent quality ...unbelievable.

Have you tried a new power brick on your Amiko? It's slim pickings out there anymore. The FTA market in the US has pretty much been abandoned.

This would likely be your best bet, and Rick is a good seller. I've never had any issues with him:

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

Here i am over a year later and just finished season 1. Not great but not as bad as I was expecting. Did not care for the barefoot captain stuff but overall ok. Actually looking forward to see what they did for season 2.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

Why do you think cleaning technology won't improve in the next few hundred years? HEPA filtration was invented as part of the Manhattan Project.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that. ;)

Say, I don't wear socks or shoes in my house either. But for a captain in Star Fleet it looks bad to be walking around the academy with no shoes. Gives off 1960 Hippie vibes.

And don't bend it more than it needs to. Zack has destroyed $2,000 of Apple hardware to get those views, which should cover his expenses.

Comcast is the first to report, with a massive 274,000 loss in video subscribers.

In the 3Q of 2016, Comcast had 21.42 million video subscribers and was the #1 provider, now at 10.39 million and is the #3 Provider, YTTV is #2 ( who also surpassed DirecTV-8 Million and Dish-under 5 Million), Charter/Spectrum is #1.

yes. even copper lines in a house degrade over 70 years, I doubt coax would last that long. Fiber Optic on the isp side will last over 70 years with very dedgration

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Well, the bag can't weigh that much, right? But by law food product packaging must display the actual net weight of the product, i.e., the contents of the container, so by any logic, if not law, a store's stated per-ounce cost should reflect that figure. But since there's not any law regulating shelf statements, a store can say whatever it wants without violating any rules. So I guess the answer is more consumer legislation. Or simply caveat emptor.

I would think that the Vendor/Maker of the product would have a say in it, showing the Correct weight ...
You would think it would be in the contract.

I do look at the ounces of items, but unless its way off, I don't check the math, may have to start now.

Remember when you use to get a 13.5 oz bag of Chips .... Thats a PARTY Size now.

Unless the specific product or its packaging is known at the time of weighing, estimating the tare weight for a PoS system is a tall order.

I'm pretty sure that produce bags can't get any thinner. ;)

You certainly don't want to put unbagged produce on a belt, scale, or in a clerk's hands (gloved or not).
I would think that all the packaging would already be accounted for ... they weigh the container, subtract that from the scale, then add the product , so its weighing the Product only

You would be thinking wrong when it comes to goods that are sold by weight (meat, produce, nails). Those items typically go on the scale wrapped without an associated tare. The weight only excludes the sticker because it hasn't been printed yet.

Perhaps only for sliced meat and cheese. Salads and similarly "shifty" or "drippy" items are typically weighed in deli cartons of some sort.

My monster burritos (up to two lbs.) are weighed in their foil jackets or paper mache take-out trays, and the jacket/tray is then "sealed" with the printed label as it comes off the printer.

Precision has to give way to practicality in situations like that.
