Everyone, this was a e-mail that I sent to the CC e-mail. Anyways, I figured it would be a good starter, first is their response back to me, then my e-mail that I sent them! read their response carefully. It actually says they care about their customers, remember this the next time they tell us one thing and then a few months later they change their minds.

Dear Mr. ******,

Thank you for your email. We want to apologize for not meeting your expectations in customer service. We pride ourselves with providing each and every customer with a positive experience when contacting us. Feedback from our customers, both positive and negative, drives the quality of our customer service. It is apparent in our quest for providing our customers with world class customer service, we have fallen short. We have forwarded your concern to the appropriate department for further review. Again, we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused by this issue.

As a current customer, you may also use our website to view your current or previous billing statements, add services, or make payments to your account. Please use the link https://customersupport.dishnetwork.com/customercare/UserManagement/login.jsp to visit our Online Customer Support Center.

To Whom it May Concern:

Why do you even bother running your Tech Forum and Charlie Chat every

month. You don't give ANY information, or at least any useful information.

What on earth is going on, you spent five or so minutes talking about a

clock, I don't want a clock, nor do I care about the clock, I have several

clocks already and I am not paying for a stupid clock.

Where is the HDTV, where is my 811's features like favorites list, why

can't you give me an answer on anything important? I am getting very tired

of your customer support, I don't call your customer support number

anymore because I never get answers to any questions that I have. I've had

your 811 since March, and it still isn't functioning like it was

advertised, or per Owners manual, which is advertisement actually. If your

811 was anything else do you honestly believe people would put up with it.

Perhaps you should look at www.satelliteguys.us, and www.dbstalk.com and

read a few post from owners of your products so that you can actually

spend time with your Charlie Chats and Tech Forums answering customers

questions, not showing us some stupid clock!

I can't believe I wasted my time turning in to Charlie Chat this last

Monday, but I thought maybe you would give something useful. Perhaps you

could add some HD, or perhaps get on the ball and simply fix my 811, I

could care less about enhancements right now, just fix it, is all I want.

If you bought something and it didn't work like it was supposed to, or

even with bugs, would you be happy, especially if every time you got a

chance to find out if the manufacture was going to fix it, they spent

their time talking about a clock!

My rating of you 1 being the least 10 being highest!

Equipment 1

Service 1

Price of Programming and Programming Selection 8 (not counting HD

selection!)

HDTV 0

I don't care that there is no "Compelling Content", which after you say

that you add TNT-HD, which is the least compelling of what is out there.

What about Starz HD, or some movie channel that plays nothing but HD

Movies, other than Hdnet Movies which doesn't play very good movies.

I am very un-happy, and you talking about a clock just made me that much

more un-happy. (and it wasn't just the clock, spending time talking about

internationals, the long winded answers to simple questions, and etc...)

Here's something I'd like to see, take a tough question from someone for

once and answer it, instead of just taking easy, repetitive questions. Why

is it I can only store 120 channels total between all four of my Favorites

list on my 811, why do I still have dark video issues, why does my 811

still crash from time to time, when is all of Dish Home going to be

available on my 811, why is it when I press in numbers to change channels

it pops up the dialog about not needing to use the * for format? And the

list goes on................. And thats just for my 811, not to mention my

two 301's.

Asking questions of Dish is like writing your Congressman. All replys are form letter BS!

Before SHIVA was passed, Dish said, "Write your Congressman. We will IMMEDIATELY provide distant HD Nets to those areas without local HD."

Now they mumble something about three years.

I wrote and asked for clarification. The answer was, "Yada, yada, no info, yada, yada, thank you, yada, yada, HD leader, yada, yada, etc., etc."

It's a damn simple question. Is the FCC holding this up; or is it Dish?

I don't need anymore "Yada,yada." :-(
M
I certainly understand your frustration, but if someone sent me an email like that, it would be deleted immediately, the sender blocked, and a terse reply sent back to you telling you to feel free to go to D* or back to cable. One can a point without being insulting and condescending.
M
I agree clapple, I thought we would get the networks in HD real quick if our locals didn't provide us with a digital signal.

Think about this, I've sent Dish Network several e-mails, I've called them on several different issues with just my 811 over the past nine months, and I've been very nice, simply asking or stating that my receiver started doing this, or it stopped doing this, or what ever, and the response that I got back from e-mail, at least, NEVER answered any of the questions that I had. On the phone, on one particular situation I called three different times about the same issue, and each time the CSR gave me a different response, and each time the CSR told me that should take care of it, and one or two days later it would come up again and I would have to call again, how much patience am I supposed to give these people, am I supposed to tell them "your service is the best in the world" when time after time they let me down. And one other thing, when I would call their Customer support and stuff like that above would happen, I would e-mail ceo@dishnetwork.com and their regular customer support e-mail telling them what happened in a very nice way, simply stating that I was unable to get the answer I needed from their customer support, and guess what, I wouldn't receive any response back. Then I come here and dbstalk.com and I read post from other people that had the same problem, and so they called Customer support, and were told, "we don't have any records of that problem"!

And what in my e-mail was so bad, I am unhappy with them, and there is no sense in not telling them that I am unhappy. If they don't hear from their customers, they will never know if what they are doing is good or bad. They even said it in their e-mail, "both negative and positive." If Dish Network does something right I will and have e-mailed them and told them so. For instance when they were having their Viacom dispute, I e-mailed them, saying I supported them 100%, and I would continue being their customer. But if after what I've been through in the last nine months isn't enough for me to tell them how frustrated I am with them, then when is it enough. It is fine if you would tell me to go to hell, but that isn't any way to run a business. And to say the least about Dish Network, they don't run business like that either. I vented to them, whether or not it will do any good, who knows, but I've said my peace, and only time will tell.

And as far as Charlie Chats go, I've called in in the past asking different questions, and it seems to me, that a year or more ago CC's would make you feel more apart of the show. They would give useful info, and they actually addressed customers concerns. Now, it seems, they don't answer any real question, they don't talk about anything that is of use by us. They didn't even talk about the MPEG 4 issue until someone got through and asked them about it, and even then they were light on info. I mean, how long before they implement MPEG 4, what happens to all of the current receivers, and etc. were never touched. I understand not letting your eggs out of the basket before the hatch, but a few words to calm the waters would have been nice. A brief explanation on why they were going back on previous statements. (NBR, etc...) But, talking about the year ahead, even from a rumor point of view would have been nice, where do they plan on going, what would they like to see happen, how will SHIVA affect us, and etc. would have been ok too.

The main reason I posted that e-mail here is so that other people could read something from Dish Network that says, they care about their customers concerns. Everyone that is a 921,811,721, 508, etc.. owner on this board are pissed, and perhaps rightfully so, at Dish Network. Some are saying that Dish doesn't care about us, (their customers) and I wanted to post something that said the opposite. As far as posting my e-mail, that was because it didn't make a lot of sense posting something from Dish, without posting why they said what they said.

As far as going back to Directv or cable is concerned: Firstly, cable is not in my area. And as far as Direct goes, I've already done that, I was a Directv customer for seven years, and I got tired of their lack of additional channels and their price for those channels. That is why I pointed out in my e-mail that programming to price is very good with Dish, but it is things that shouldn't be a problem that they are loosing me on. (buggy equipment, lack of support, and etc...) When I call with an issue I'd like help, not something that they think up. And like I said I would call and simply say something like: I was wondering why my 811 won't download SW version 281, it starts, but then it freezes? Do you see anything "condescending" in that question? Or should I not bother them with my questions, should I just fork out money and never expect answers to questions that I might have?

I've tried to be nice, and it took this e-mail to actually get a response, I've tried the nice route and I never and I mean never got any response let alone a yada, yada response. And by the way, this response actually made me happy, just the fact that they responded back to me alleviated most of my frustration. So whether or not you agree with me, my e-mail got the response I was looking for. Read it, they talk about caring about their customers, and will try harder in the future. (forwarding it to the proper channels, is at least a start in the right direction) And another thing, I actually e-mailed them back thanking them for their response.

I agree that they were just trying to have fun, and I don't have a problem with that, but they could have spent a few more minutes being serious.

Monday 11/2 is a full slate for NBA League Pass as all 30 teams are playing and 14 out of 15 total games are on NBALP. Only one national TV game on Peacock/NBCSN (Thunder @ Cavs).

DirecTV is even having to use several MLB EI channels (from 745-748) and a NHL CI (770) channel to fit all of them in the guide close together. 5 games at 7:30 ET, 3 games at 8 ET, 2 games at 8:30 ET, 1 game at 9 ET, 3 games at 10 ET. Luckily NHL CI is light on Monday (3 games on CI).

DirecTV is providing both broadcast feeds for all League Pass games except Hornets, Magic, Bucks & Raptors that night. These are all teams that have local broadcasts via a OTA channel which is on spotbeams and have streaming deals (DTC) that are not exclusive DAZN teams which DirecTV just signed a deal with (à la Spurs, Grizzlies, Cavs, Pacers & T'Wolves). Its also very common that we don't get Raptors broadcast very often from TSN or Sportsnet Ontario on League Pass.

Only the Knicks, Nets, Wizards, Bulls, Celtics, Rockets, Lakers, Warriors, Avalanche, Sharks and Bruins feeds will be using remaps of 24/7 RSNs that night. The rest will be relying on the part time feeds, including the Nuggets, Blackhawks and Kings who will be on their alt/overflow channels, and MSG Western NY will be live on channel 635-1 to carry Buffalo area ads during the Knicks game.

The NHL Network alternate will have Red Wings @ Panthers for those blacked out of Golden Knights @ Bruins on the main feed.

The Thunder @ Cavaliers game will be on one of Peacock Game Pass channels that night for commercial customers, they'll also have the back to back U-Conn Women's and Men's Basketball. One of the part time feeds will also be in use for WWE Raw via Joe Hand promotions.

I have a DISH Hopper 3 (Software H713) with Hopper Plus (Software P15403). I have not tried streaming services but I primarily watch TVB Jadeworld international package which is only available by streaming and when I have an issue, I usually have to go to a non-streaming satellite channel first before the streaming channels will work again. What software versions do you have and what is the error message if any are showing on your screen? or is that Dish downloading logo just stuck and never finishes?

I'm on H713 on the Hopper and P15403 on the Hopper Plus. It shows internet connection issues and doesn't finish loading the various services. I see the "loading circle going around. Sometimes I get a message saying that the service is having trouble loading my content and to check the internet connection.

Did it ever work correctly before? Hard to say what the problem is. Usually for streaming, it will show the Dish logo with lines sweeping down to show downloading, never seen the circle issue. Did you try a manual reboot, red button reset, power cord unplug/replug to see if it makes a difference.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Do I need a collection of handheld radios, scanners and speed enforcement countermeasures? Nope, but I want them. Very little, if any of the software used to interface with these devices is available on Linux.

For niche use cases, yes I agree. Kali for ethical hacking and security testing, and running a Cacti server for network monitoring are the two things I have experience in. Plus thousands and thousands of other things, but for every day use I just can't see it. The owner of the GMRS repeater that I pay to access is changing the Tx DPL tones tomorrow, while Chirp is available on Linux, the software to program my MXT500 is not.

I run Fedora and Ubuntu in VMWare, honestly I don't care much for the UI of either of them and I don't feel like spending days/weeks to customize the UI to make it look Windows-like when I could just use Windows. The cartoonish dock at the bottom of the screen reminds me of Apple products.

What is so fantabulous about the Windows UI? By many accounts, it has been going downhill since Windows 7.

There are Linux desktops that offer Windows or Mac UIs, yet you don't hear much chatter about them outside of questions about when the creators might get sued.

Because it's what I prefer. I know I've said this a few times, I use Open Shell to give me the cascading start menu a la WIN 95 and NT4.0. The only reason I went from Windows Vista to 7 back in the day was because of Classic Shell. I cannot stand anything other than the OG start menu from 30+ years ago. I'm using ExplorerPatcher to give me Windows 10 UI elements of the taskbar and right click context menus.

If you could take a look at how I set up Windows 95, you'd find many similarities to how I use 11.

I could probably use that as a starting point, but I don't like the full size icons. If you have to click on each folder that's also a no-go for me, it has to be cascading.

I used to have Peppermint Linux in a VM, that was about as close as I could get to recreating a Windows NT4.0 style of menu structure, but I could never get it to scale properly in VMWare on a 4K display and eventually gave up.

Whatever the boot up time it's fine with me. The longest part of my bootup is the HP SureStart BIOS integrity check. Once that is done, it's only a few more seconds. I haven't done this reg tweak yet since the reformat, but I switched the bootup animation to the Windows 10 style spinning circle of dots, and it's two and a half rotations. I can live with that.

Because it's what I prefer.
I hope you don't believe that makes it wonderful (especially when you're using workarounds for Microsoft's malfeasance).

I use LibreOffice as opposed to Microsoft office (even in Windows) because it's UI is like the Office of old, so I'm putting my money where my mouth is (in a manner of speaking). The ribbon was one of the worst ideas to come out Redmond.

I used to pin the C: drive to the Win Taskbar and it would open in cascading style

Actually it looks like there are a lot of features new or updated, although most are on a gradual rollout schedule.

DEATH TO NEXGEN!

It's dead, they just don't know it yet. They killed it by forcing DRM on it, and that TOTALLY botched implementing it.

There is absolutely NO compelling reason for anybody to switch to ATSC3.0. They only want it as a total and complete money grab.

What bothers me is the total waste of broadcasting spectrum in this very crowded market. It has been almost three years now since KFOX converted their broadcast tower to ATSC 3.0 and moved all of their channels to other towers causing noticeable degradation of the picture quality.
I have a Sony TV with 3.0 capabilities but still use the 1.0 version of locals due to the fact that one or all of the 3.0 channels are often missing or unwatchable. In this city of 800K I doubt that more than a few hundred even know about ATSC 3.0.
The only thing that could motivate me to be interested in 3.0 would be if all of the minor networks (diginets) could be in at least 720P rather than blurry ultra-compressed 480i.
Three years is long enough to waste one of the few available RF frequencies in the area for this trial.
It is time to either move on with this experiment or call it quits.

QFT. Of course, my preference involves a curb and some kicking.

That would be handy. Download the latest RNA snippets that can be updated over 5G and no more shots! You're a Genius!

I want it and I have to have it.

I can neuter the phoning home with adguard home so it won't be doing that in my castle but I prefer without Internet so that my TVs in the house don't turn into e-waste

It states the average amount they are under water is OVER $7,000. :eek

Personally, I tend to be the type that drives a vehicle for a lot of years....do my own oil changes and other fluid changes. Just replaced the spark plugs and a couple coils. Youtube is great for things like this.
