My dad just got a new Sony 34" LCD flatscreen HDTV, and he had an old 301 that Dish upgraded to an 811 (due to my coaching). The install people from The Good Guys said that they could install the 811, so my dad declined the $25 install charge from Dish. Well, now the fun begins. I go over to his house yesterday to help him load all the component information into his new Home Theater Master MX600 that they sold him--they didn't program anything into it; they just flat handed it to him. After a couple of hours, I walked him through the satellite options, screen stretch modes, did a cursory calibration of his screen, showed him how to watch a DVD. Before leaving, I said, hey, let's watch some HDTV. He hadn't seen any yet, so I get on the Guide, and can't find any HD stations. So, I phone Dish, and after running some tests, we find out that his Dish 500 setup is only seeing one of three birds, and is not getting any HD. I asked them if they could send somebody out and fix it, and they said the charge would be $119 (they read to me off the computer that he had declined the Dish setup, so this was the response). When they referred me to a local authorized Dish rep. in the area, who they said would probably be cheaper, when I phoned this company they said that they only did installs of their own hardware. Okay, so now it's back to The Good Guys. They tried to install the 811, my dad said, but didn't know how to do it (!), so they sub'd it out to an outside company. They came, "installed it", and left, with no receipt, work order, name of company, or anything. I asked my dad who these guys were, and he said "Carl and some other guy". Oh boy. His other three receivers (510 and two 301's) are getting all the channels that they're supposed to, so I don't think it's the LBNF. For a recap here: Dish won't help except for $119; The Good Guys has said that they will have their manager of custom installations call my dad, since I advised my dad to run it up the chain at The Good Guys, since it was their sub-contractor that f'd it up. Does all this sound reasonable? I just want the old guy to get his HD. Oh, by the way, they also sold him a Monster Cable Power Conditioner component that everything plugs into before going out again! And they only hooked up his component outs from the 811 to the Sony, not a DVI to HDMI hookup.

Yes, the first thing we did was a checkswitch (after holding the power button down for 10 seconds for a reboot). Yes, it replaced an existing 301, and finally, yes, the HD package was ordered. Thanks for your thoughts, everybody; I appreciate your help.

What were the detailed results of the Check Switch? Tell us what kind of LNB it says you have - does it match what the other receivers are saying?

P.S. A Dish 500 only sees two birds, not three - where'd you get three from?
S
My recollection was that it was only seeing 119 West at 82%, and we changed a couple of transponders and the signal strength dropped. When we switched to 110West there was no signal strength. Also, I think I was mistaken when I spoke of three birds; I seemed to recall that for me to get my locals and All Everything, I thought my two Dishes had to see 119W, 110W and I think 61.5, but I must be wrong.

how about emailing ceo@echostar.com, they really try to help you . harvey

Thought I might give a follow-up: I called Dish to set up a re-install appointment for my dad's 811, and this time the tech rep I talked to offered to send out an install team for FREE, and in fact will credit my dad's Dish bill by $23 for the days that he didn't have any High-Def feed. This was a case where a reasonable discussion between adults ended up well. Thank you, Dish Network.

Over the past few weeks, I have had problems connecting to streaming services (Netflix, HBO et al). When I go to the TV's native Channels, I have no problem. The Dish internet troubleshooter shows I have a good internet connection. I'm wondering whether it's an issue with my internet provider or a problem with the Dish software on the Hopper Plus. Anyone else seeing this?

I have a DISH Hopper 3 (Software H713) with Hopper Plus (Software P15403). I have not tried streaming services but I primarily watch TVB Jadeworld international package which is only available by streaming and when I have an issue, I usually have to go to a non-streaming satellite channel first before the streaming channels will work again. What software versions do you have and what is the error message if any are showing on your screen? or is that Dish downloading logo just stuck and never finishes?

I'm on H713 on the Hopper and P15403 on the Hopper Plus. It shows internet connection issues and doesn't finish loading the various services. I see the "loading circle going around. Sometimes I get a message saying that the service is having trouble loading my content and to check the internet connection.

Did it ever work correctly before? Hard to say what the problem is. Usually for streaming, it will show the Dish logo with lines sweeping down to show downloading, never seen the circle issue. Did you try a manual reboot, red button reset, power cord unplug/replug to see if it makes a difference.

Might be worth just to ditch the hopper plus. No issues here on h713

Buy a roku and dump the hopper plus you'll be better off. If you have a smart tv you don't need either one. No hopper plus here and no issues!!!

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Monday 11/2 is a full slate for NBA League Pass as all 30 teams are playing and 14 out of 15 total games are on NBALP. Only one national TV game on Peacock/NBCSN (Thunder @ Cavs).

DirecTV is even having to use several MLB EI channels (from 745-748) and a NHL CI (770) channel to fit all of them in the guide close together. 5 games at 7:30 ET, 3 games at 8 ET, 2 games at 8:30 ET, 1 game at 9 ET, 3 games at 10 ET. Luckily NHL CI is light on Monday (3 games on CI).

DirecTV is providing both broadcast feeds for all League Pass games except Hornets, Magic, Bucks & Raptors that night. These are all teams that have local broadcasts via a OTA channel which is on spotbeams and have streaming deals (DTC) that are not exclusive DAZN teams which DirecTV just signed a deal with (à la Spurs, Grizzlies, Cavs, Pacers & T'Wolves). Its also very common that we don't get Raptors broadcast very often from TSN or Sportsnet Ontario on League Pass.

Only the Knicks, Nets, Wizards, Bulls, Celtics, Rockets, Lakers, Warriors, Avalanche, Sharks and Bruins feeds will be using remaps of 24/7 RSNs that night. The rest will be relying on the part time feeds, including the Nuggets, Blackhawks and Kings who will be on their alt/overflow channels, and MSG Western NY will be live on channel 635-1 to carry Buffalo area ads during the Knicks game.

The NHL Network alternate will be live on channel 215-1 with Red Wings @ Panthers for those blacked out of Golden Knights @ Bruins on the main feed.

The Thunder @ Cavaliers game will be on one of Peacock Game Pass channels that night for commercial customers, they'll also have the back to back U-Conn Women's and Men's Basketball. One of the part time feeds will also be in use for WWE Raw via Joe Hand promotions.

I could be wrong but the only RSN we dont have is NBC SN Philadelphia .
