Upgraded from a VIP722 to a VIP922 today and have experienced several problems.

Was told by the DISH support people I could still use OTA on the VIP922. Asked the installer as he was hooking it up, he said no problem. I don't think he knew what I was talking about, because I asked him where my local OTA channels were, he said I need an OTA module. He told me I need to contact DISH to get one.

Started entering my timers. Hit timer 33 and the DVR won't let me enter any more, tells me 33 is the max. WTF? 33 timers? I had 76 on my VIP722, in my experience, upgrades are supposed to give you MORE functionality, not less. Had online chat with DISH tech support, they said a software update over the next 48 hours should fix it. Someone please tell me it is possible to have more than 33 timers with a VIP922.

The external hard drive, problem number 3. Won't let me transfer the existing recordings without formatting the drive for the new DVR, something about it being currently assigned to another DVR. Chat told me wait 48 hours.

Remote viewing appears to be working via the DISH app. But I am confused because if I go to the Menu -> Sling TV Everywhere "Tile", item "8 - Watch on your mobile device", says:

Mobile devices use SlingPlayer Mobile software to connect to your ViP 922 SlingLoaded DVR and show your favorite show. On DISH Remote Access main page, click on Go Mobile! button and follow the steps to receive your mobile key. You need this mobile key to download your free SlingPlayer Mobile. Write down this key and save it for future (you can always go back to the page later too).
...
Note: iPhone users need to go to iTunes Application Store to download iPhone SlingPlayer Mobile.

Ok, I can't find anywhere from the Go Mobile! button to get a key. Does anyone else have a clue about this?

And finally, my DVR is only showing 500GB. Isn't the VIP922 supposed to be 1TB?

I may have missed this in reading all the posts, but the predecessor DishPro and ViP DVR's have a button in the Daily Schedule screen: the Show Skipped button. Selecting that shows ALL the events, including skipped ones and will display the real total number of all events in memory. If one selects Hide Skipped, only the events that will record and only that much smaller number of events are displayed. Does the 922 have a similar feature? I use it a lot on my 722 (K's) and this is another little quirk that is making me shy from upgrading to a 922 along with Manual Timers and Dish Passes only via website. I am now rethinking my plant to upgrade to 922 in March. Good Heavens!

Yes, you can still view all skipped events. The navigation is a bit different, but the functionality is there.

A kind thanks.

Well, I must say, I'm rather happy with the 922 now. The OTA module arrived on Monday and within 30 minutes I had my OTA stations, with guide data, and was able to finally get all of my timers back the way they were pre-upgrade.

The OTA module being dual tuner is extremely nice, it resolved lots of timer conflicts, being able to record 4 events at a time is just freaking awesome ;)

What happened to the OTA?

I just had the 922 installed yesterday replacing my 722. I too was dismayed the there was no OTA.
Tech support says it will not work, sales says I have to buy the $50 OTA.

How did you get dish to provide you the OTA?
Easy setup?

Thanks
Gary

I told them to either a) send my old dvr back and cancel the upgrade, or b) send me the OTA module at no cost, or c) cancel my service completely if they couldn't do option a or b. This was after hours of working with them on multiple problems and I was so fed up I was ready to ditch dish completely, they are acting a little too much like comcast for my taste. I wouldn't have been so pissed if the service rep I asked before upgrading told me the dvr would function just like my existing 722 where OTA was concerned. If not that would have been a deal breaker for me. Thankfully they did the right thing...

As far as easy setup. Remove two screws, pop the module in, go into setup of local channels, within 15 minutes or so it was working perfectly, guide data and all. As an added bonus, the OTA module has two channels (via the single rabbit ears), so now I can record 2 OTA simultaneously, or 4 total.

It was a major hassle, however, getting all of the recording events set back up like I had them before. The timer events are still buggy as hell, can't do dishpass except online, every timer done online turns on protection, can't edit the channel on existing timers via the dvr interface, and so on. I complained about all of that to dish customer service, never heard back from them...

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

I'm getting fabulous picture on Ch. 148 4k, but zero audio with H713. This is with a recorded show (Notre Dame game). Anyone else have this? Audio is fine on every other channel.

It's a known issue.
For a temporary fix, go into the menu, Audio, and turn Dolby Audio "OFF". You will have PCM stereo audio.

I was able to give the tech ops team some data logs so they could diagnose the problem, and they rolled me back to H708 temporarily. It fixed that issue.

They let me know that they understand what caused the issue, and it will be fixed within a few weeks in a new update.

I guess they will be busy when lots of people start asking for rollbacks to H708 now that you mention that downgrades of software does exist because it will likely fix the OTA Single Tuner and the IR Remote problems in H710-H713.

it will likely fix the OTA Single Tuner

The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.

Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.

I have gotten back into watching SG-1 and I have recorded most of the episodes to binge watch. What episodes are about the Antarctic or was this a movie? Also where could I watch the SG-1 movies?

Well, there are a couple involving the Antarctic. "Solitudes", S1 E17 (one of my favorites), Then, "Lost City', S7 E21 and E22. Then, in the SGA pilot, "Rising", S1 E1 and E2, it starts out in the Antarctic for about the first 20 minutes or so.

Which one has O'Neil being Ancients? I am at the end of Season 8 now.

If I understand your question, O'Neill had the Ancient's knowledge in the "Lost City" two-part episode. That was when Anubis attacked Earth and there was a big battle over Antarctica.
