Matt Kemp (NL MVP) and Clayton Kershaw (NL Cy Young) in running for major awards

The question should now read, "Can a .500-caliber team overcome a series of embarrassments, ownership upheaval and waning fan interest to produce the MVP and Cy Young winner in the same season?''

The candidates' names are Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw, and they've done an impressive job surmounting the chaos and bringing their "A'' games to the park from Opening Day through Labor Day. Their efforts haven't been enough to keep Frank and Jamie McCourt out of the news entirely. But hey, any contribution toward that goal is a step in the right direction.
I think they can and they should. There is no doubt that Kershaw is the best pitcher in the NL this year and Kemp is the best offensive player this year. Despite the team's woes, they should be rewarded for their great play

Dodger, I was watching the Vin Scully broadcast last night, and the pregame with Steve Lyons. Kershaw/Parra was a huge discussion before the game, and when Parra came up to bat.

Here is what happened, according to the Dodger telecast, accompanied by video highlights. On Tuesday night Parra squared to bunt, and Kuo buzzed him inside, very close to his head. No idea what the intent was, but the ball did come very close to Parra's head.

Parra walked around, visibly angry, but went back into the batter's box. Later in that bat Parra hit a home run, stood at the plate longer than long, stared down Kuo while he rounded the bases slowly, and did some hand gestures and said something to the catcher when he finally got to home plate. Parra did his best Carlos Guillen impersonation.

You could read the Dodger catcher's lips, yelling back to Parra 'you're better than that'. Words were exchanged between the teams, and you could see Kershaw yelling to Parra from the bench, 'wait till tomorrow, you'll find out', while Kershaw was pointing to the pitcher's mound. Of course, Kershaw was he Dodger starter 'tomorrow'.

There was much discussion in the pregame regarding whether Kershaw would hit Parra. When Parra came up for the first time, Scully said we'll now find out about Kershaw's growth and maturity, meaning we'll see if Kershaw hits Parra, or pitches to him like a professional. Scully's words, not mine.

No incident in the first at bat, and I thought it was over. I was going back and forth between that game and the Yankee game, so I didn't see Parra get hit.

But nobody is surprised Parra was hit, and when I turned back and saw Lindholm warming up, people could not be surprised Kershaw was ejected after he threatened Parra the night before.

I am not choosing sides...Parra acted like a punk, and perhaps Kershaw did what he thought he should do...or perhaps a pitch got away from him. Either way, after you threaten a player and then hit him, umps are going to think it's pre-meditated.

Listen to the DBacks broadcast. They were more shocked than anyone that Kershaw was ejected.

Lindblom was not warming up. Scully even made a point during the argument that now the Dodgers have to hurry and get someone up

LOL it would look pretty riduculous if the Dodgers were warming someone up in the sixth inning of a Kershaw shutout. The Dodgers cannot assume Kershaw is going to hit Parra. Perhaps Kershaw didn't know Kershaw was going to hit Parra.

But when you threaten a person and then hit him, an ejection cannot be a shock.

Why would he be?? Kershaw was pitching a gem.

True

I remember Verlander doing the same about a month ago. He was even pointing to his side telling Ayabar that he will get one in the ribs.

I think Kershaw's threat was more like, I will dominate you and you will not even be able to hit a HR off of me. Even so, let the guy pitch and issue a warning first

I misread what Sandra wrote. I thought she was saying she saw already Lindbolm warming up

I think that stemmed from the Carlos Guillen home run, when Weaver hit someone after that. Guillen acted like a jerk, but Weaver was still rightfully ejected.

Clayton Kershaw silences the debate

LOS ANGELES -- Clayton Kershaw silenced the San Francisco Giants once again Thursday night, pitching the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 2-1 victory in front of 32,526 at Dodger Stadium. Mostly, though, he silenced all debate.Let there be no further argument, because the issue has been decided: Kershaw -- the Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander who has morphed over the past year from an occasionally erratic ace-in-waiting to a guy whose future most definitely is now -- should be the 2011 National League Cy Young Award winner.

Has to be. Simply must be.

"I was thinking about that standing in center field in the eighth inning," the Dodgers' Matt Kemp said. "If this boy doesn't win the Cy Young, something is definitely wrong. No question about it."

Does that mean he will win it? Well, not necessarily. It is a rather complex electorate that decides these things, a selection of 32 members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America -- and more specifically, two members from each of the 16 National League cities. Several of those cities are along the Eastern seaboard, and several others are in the Midwest. That means that only the most insomnia-stricken among some of those writers have seen every Kershaw start.

Still, with each one of those starts, Kershaw has become increasingly impossible to ignore, and it is beginning to seem inconceivable that anyone could overlook him. Not when he is tied for the league lead in victories, not when he blows away every other pitcher when it comes to blowing away hitters. Not when he has become a 20-game winner, Kershaw having been all of 2 years old the last time a Dodgers pitcher accomplished that. Not when he has beaten the Giants -- the defending World Series champion Giants, no less -- five times this season, something no Dodgers pitcher had done since Don Newcombe did it when the teams were crosstown rivals in 1951, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

And certainly not when he has now beaten Tim Lincecum, himself a two-time Cy Young Award winner, four times in four head-to-head matchups this season.

Lincecum's ERA in those four starts was 1.24. Kershaw's was 0.30. And that, as Robert Frost once wrote, has made all the difference, especially given that the Dodgers won those games by scores of 2-1, 1-0, 2-1 and 2-1.

Kemp adds to MVP cause in Dodgers' victory

LOS ANGELES -- The chants of "M-V-P" that have echoed throughout Dodger Stadium for the last month or so got undeniably louder Thursday night.

In the Dodgers' final home game of 2011, an 8-2 victory over San Francisco, Matt Kemp continued what he's done throughout his electrifying season, as he notched a career-high three doubles, belted a long two-run homer and made a sprawling play in center field.

Really, it was nothing new.

The Dodgers' five-tool center fielder not only continued to cement his name at the forefront of the MVP discussion, but he gave himself an outside shot at a 40-40 season and even the Triple Crown. Kemp leads the National League in RBIs, trails the Cardinals' Albert Pujols by one home run and sits third in the batting race, just four points behind Milwaukee's Ryan Braun.

No one has accomplished the feat since Boston's Carl Yastrzemski did so in 1967, and while Kemp's opportunity is still an outside shot, at the rate he's hit in the last week, it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

"Pretty unbelievable," Kemp said of the atmosphere Thursday at Chavez Ravine. "I felt it tonight."

But Triple Crowns, MVPs and 40-40 seasons aren't going to be on Kemp's mind in the season's final week, when the Dodgers head to San Diego and then Arizona.

"Six more games, I'm not going to put any more pressure on myself," said Kemp, who noted he was inspired by his mother sitting in the front row behind the on-deck circle. "I'm just going to hit the ball hard and we'll see where it goes."

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

No. Bring in someone new.🤔 Tony is not serious enough for me. Parker is too close to the team and Tim is too young to take over IMO.

I don't think Tim and Tony are that far apart in Age ...

Remember what Tony said to Tim when they first got back together ...
Tony said: I am the New Tony, Tim .... (something to that effect)

Tony has changed, he's been running his Security Business ... I'm sure he has grown up.

Give it time ... your judging the New Tony from the old Tony.

It sounds like Tim won't be around the Team much longer either.

I'm curious how they are going to implement Tony into Origins (If they do) ...
Tony was introduced to Gibbs and the team, on NCIS, which makes it the Mothership side of things, he worked in Baltimore prior to NCIS, NO mention when they met that anyone had known one another ...

This should hit a lot of folks with a dose of reality. I can only imagine how much more common this will get as AI progresses.

I read several stories on this and most are clear as mud. They say a lot of the stolen bitcoin has been "locked out" and that everyone will be made financially whole. I guess time will tell if either of these statements are actually true.

The "Secure Asset Fund" had about $1 billion in reserves... in Bitcoin.

The fund started in 2018, so it may take a while to make investors whole, much less replenish the fund.

Personally, I tend to be the type that drives a vehicle for a lot of years....do my own oil changes and other fluid changes. Just replaced the spark plugs and a couple coils. Youtube is great for things like this.

I'm pretty sure the most you can get is seven.

What America can't afford is the payments on $80,000+ pickups and SUVs and $40,000+ crossovers.

Over the past few weeks, I have had problems connecting to streaming services (Netflix, HBO et al). When I go to the TV's native Channels, I have no problem. The Dish internet troubleshooter shows I have a good internet connection. I'm wondering whether it's an issue with my internet provider or a problem with the Dish software on the Hopper Plus. Anyone else seeing this?

I have a DISH Hopper 3 (Software H713) with Hopper Plus (Software P15403). I have not tried streaming services but I primarily watch TVB Jadeworld international package which is only available by streaming and when I have an issue, I usually have to go to a non-streaming satellite channel first before the streaming channels will work again. What software versions do you have and what is the error message if any are showing on your screen? or is that Dish downloading logo just stuck and never finishes?

I'm on H713 on the Hopper and P15403 on the Hopper Plus. It shows internet connection issues and doesn't finish loading the various services. I see the "loading circle going around. Sometimes I get a message saying that the service is having trouble loading my content and to check the internet connection.

Did it ever work correctly before? Hard to say what the problem is. Usually for streaming, it will show the Dish logo with lines sweeping down to show downloading, never seen the circle issue. Did you try a manual reboot, red button reset, power cord unplug/replug to see if it makes a difference.

Might be worth just to ditch the hopper plus. No issues here on h713

Buy a roku and dump the hopper plus you'll be better off. If you have a smart tv you don't need either one. No hopper plus here and no issues!!!
