What to do, what to choose, need a some thoughts answered.

OK, I have been reading posts on SatGuys for a few hours and I don't feel any more equipped. So, I will start a thread that is likely repeated a gazillion times. If you regulars know of threads to read, please advise! Don't mean to be a total N00B...

So, I have had FIOS for a few years and love it. But, I am moving out into the sticks and can't get it or Comcast, so I am being forced to go sat, but have never had it before.

The property has an old DirectTV dish, but doubt it is good or worth anything.

I don't watch sports too much and we don't care about 3D and probably won't do any premium channels. We are Nick, HGTV, Primetime peeps when we can watch tv.

We will have three HD TVs in the house and like the idea of whole house DVR, but at the same time I don't want my daughters hogging it so having a dedicated one for the would be fine by me!

I am leaning towards Dish, though several friends say DirectTV is better, but I doubt they are sport nuts.

I am uncertain of the Hopper/Joey setup and its potential limitations? Is their a FAQ on it?

And, unlikely in this forum, but can anyone tell me why I should go with DirectTV over Dish???

On the bottom of the main forum page, you'll see the usernames in red with @DISH Network at the end. Those are official reps from Dish that are active on the forum right now. Just send them a private message with your account or phone number.

Example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

You have to find my account in the settings. Only works if you're connected to internet.

It is really really simple install (no special tools or instruments required and they guide you through using their starlink app and a simple set of instructions.

You can order direct from starlink online or from an authorized retailer.

Not at all like the special equipment needed for a satellite install.

Yes, I fully agree. I can install it with my teeth, and both hands tied behind my back...but this installation is for a commercial user that will not do it themselves, and myself, Im overseas...

But it looks like that we managed to find someone who can drive there for the work.

New report states 29% of vehicles being traded in are under water

It states the average amount they are under water is OVER $7,000. :eek

Personally, I tend to be the type that drives a vehicle for a lot of years....do my own oil changes and other fluid changes. Just replaced the spark plugs and a couple coils. Youtube is great for things like this.

I'm pretty sure the most you can get is seven.

What America can't afford is the payments on $80,000+ pickups and SUVs and $40,000+ crossovers.

Believe it or not, 8 yrs...96 mon is starting to become common.

What I can't believe is the interest rates they are charging now. I've got a high credit score and when recently at a Ford dealership I inquired about what the rates were for new vehicles and he said 6.9%. Yikes.

$6.3 billion in crypto stolen by hackers

This should hit a lot of folks with a dose of reality. I can only imagine how much more common this will get as AI progresses.

I read several stories on this and most are clear as mud. They say a lot of the stolen bitcoin has been "locked out" and that everyone will be made financially whole. I guess time will tell if either of these statements are actually true.

The fund started in 2018, so it may take a while to make investors whole, much less replenish the fund.

That's kinda what I was seeing but all the news reports are suggesting that all investors will be made whole immediately.
The other thing they weren't clear about was the BTC that was "locked out" of the system. I guess that means that the stolen BTC is basically worthless now because I don't see how it could be replaced....but there is a LOT about the crypto world that leaves me scratching my head.

I don't think Tim and Tony are that far apart in Age ...

Remember what Tony said to Tim when they first got back together ...

Tony has changed, he's been running his Security Business ... I'm sure he has grown up.

Give it time ... your judging the New Tony from the old Tony.

It sounds like Tim won't be around the Team much longer either.

I'm curious how they are going to implement Tony into Origins (If they do) ...
Tony was introduced to Gibbs and the team, on NCIS, which makes it the Mothership side of things, he worked in Baltimore prior to NCIS, NO mention when they met that anyone had known one another ...
