The Fat Man
This thread reminds me of when in the early 90s, I thought I was all slick. My local cable was just pushing everyone to switch to the "new system" which gave us 68 channels instead of 37. The catch was on the "old system" I got a small descrambler to get NESN and what is now NBC Sports Boston (then Sports Channel New England), and the cable company's employee climbed the pole outside to turn on HBO and/or Cinemax. No Showtime, The Movie Channel, or Pay-Per-View. Those were added with the "new system".

When we were forced to upgrade, they took our little descrambler and gave us a new cable box (nowhere considered a receiver back then). In order to receive the correct channel line-up and access to premium networks and Pay-Per-View (Viewer's Choice), you needed this box. Plugging the cable line directly into a cable ready TV or VCR, or a store bought cable box, would give you the "alternate line-up". Example: with the officially supported box, Nickelodeon was channel 14. Without the box, it was channel 32. I was young, so I watched a lot of Nickelodeon back then. HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, and The Movie Channel were ranged from 28 to 31 respectively with the box. If you didn't subscribe, you'd see a scrambled image for about two seconds then the box would jump to a banner telling to subscribe, and the number on the box would blink. Without the box, HBO was on 48, Cinemax was on 56, Showtime was on 38, and The Movie Channel was on 61. You could tune and listen to the channel with the scrambled image. But, you couldn't subscribe. Even if you did on one TV with the box, a second TV without a box would still be scrambled.

I used to like to run the cable from the line outside to the VCR, then from the VCR to the cable box (we subscribed to HBO, thus needed the box). Doing this, the box needed to be on channel 3 or 4. I would switch the VCR tuner to one of the scrambled channels, which would cause a glitch in the box that would think either channel 3 or 4 were a premium network which we didn't subscribe to and blink. I had fun for hours screwing with my parents with that, especially during football season when the old (horrible) Patriots played on channel 4 (WBZ). I remember my father "get over here, why the (explative) is channel 4 blinking and showing me previews for movies on Pay-Per-View again? He was too tech illiterate to know to change the channel then back to fix the glitch. He used to wait about 10 minutes for the company's computer to realize the error and refresh the box.

To record off HBO or PPV, we need to run to the box, then to the VCR, then to the TV. So, one day when I was bored, I changed the wires to run the glitch again. The company had been running some system maintenance and turned on all the premiums and Pay-Per-View channels for anyone viewing without the box. I thought I found some trade secret and was trying to be all covert about it. I had free Pay-Per-View. I was going to see that year's Survivor Series for free. So on and so forth. Obviously they knew what was going on and turned it all off by the next day.

That's what the OP reminds me of in this thread. If you are receiving these audio channels, Dish knows you're receiving them. No need to be all slick and send only private messages. What was the point of creating the thread to begin with if this needs to be all covert? Just keep in mind, you're a grown adult. I'm referencing myself when I was in the fourth grade. Also, they're audio channels. You do realize that there are a million ways to listen to whatever music you want, on demand, right? I like having the SiriusXM music channels, but I can still get the music I want without them. Just some food for thought.

dat is why i like the ability to add and drop packages. my moods change.
.......
and one final thougth.
because of this one audio channel i like, and if they remove it from current pack i have, i am going to upgrade to a different package so i can get this one audio channel. and beside i like some of the other channel that flex has too.

Yup. More than one other person can be on a single Conversation, if needed.

I hear you. I have only 2 or 3 channels that keep me on AT250. :( I also sub to SiriusXM for one channel only. Wish there were true a la carte.

Again, you're interest in said channel isn't what I question. I question your need to treat this like classified information. If you have this channel, and think you aren't supposed to have it, either Dish is giving it as a free preview, is giving it as a replacement for a dispute, or added it as part of a package of which you subscribe. It's like how the Movie Pack subs used to have Starz Cinema, but then it changed to Starz Kids & Family. We don't get the rest of the Starz suite.

Basically, if you have it, Dish knows you have it. So, no need for the covert thread that gives a nugget of info explaining your purpose for the thread, then a plethora of PMs telling interested members. Some gormless employee at Dish didn't mistakenly turn on this audio channel, and it went unnoticed by everyone else in the company.

i am going to do my side note first, they have close to 300 streaming services out there. hmm

Cord cutters feel weight of subscription fatigue as video, TV streaming options multiply base on this article. There's now more than 300 streaming services to choose from – up from 200-plus a year ago – and consumers may be feeling overwhelmed, says Kevin Westcott, Deloitte's vice chairman for U.S. telecom, media and entertainment.

i just checked youtube tv. and they dont have locals. but they have some good stuff. unless local now means locals.

i notice one channel they have natgeowild and so many other channels. for 40 bucks, that would be a good supplement for me in future along with dish. if u do check out youtube tv, insert your zipcode. u might find something there that fits your needs and still keep dish.

------
one thing came into mine amc for 5 bucks extra hmm.
they showed a local now, whatever that means....
Cloud DVR with no storage limits
Never run out of storage space. Stream your library wherever you go. Record simultaneously. hmm
that alone seems good.
.....
for movies i use showtime and i watch all the current new movies that come out. redbox i would consider using that but they actually have a local video store near me that offers new movies as well, dvd. hmm
redbox is like one mile one way and then 3 miles another way.

Over the past few weeks, I have had problems connecting to streaming services (Netflix, HBO et al). When I go to the TV's native Channels, I have no problem. The Dish internet troubleshooter shows I have a good internet connection. I'm wondering whether it's an issue with my internet provider or a problem with the Dish software on the Hopper Plus. Anyone else seeing this?

I have a DISH Hopper 3 (Software H713) with Hopper Plus (Software P15403). I have not tried streaming services but I primarily watch TVB Jadeworld international package which is only available by streaming and when I have an issue, I usually have to go to a non-streaming satellite channel first before the streaming channels will work again. What software versions do you have and what is the error message if any are showing on your screen? or is that Dish downloading logo just stuck and never finishes?

I'm on H713 on the Hopper and P15403 on the Hopper Plus. It shows internet connection issues and doesn't finish loading the various services. I see the "loading circle going around. Sometimes I get a message saying that the service is having trouble loading my content and to check the internet connection.

Did it ever work correctly before? Hard to say what the problem is. Usually for streaming, it will show the Dish logo with lines sweeping down to show downloading, never seen the circle issue. Did you try a manual reboot, red button reset, power cord unplug/replug to see if it makes a difference.

Might be worth just to ditch the hopper plus. No issues here on h713

Buy a roku and dump the hopper plus you'll be better off. If you have a smart tv you don't need either one. No hopper plus here and no issues!!!

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Monday 11/2 is a full slate for NBA League Pass as all 30 teams are playing and 14 out of 15 total games are on NBALP. Only one national TV game on Peacock/NBCSN (Thunder @ Cavs).

DirecTV is even having to use several MLB EI channels (from 745-748) and a NHL CI (770) channel to fit all of them in the guide close together. 5 games at 7:30 ET, 3 games at 8 ET, 2 games at 8:30 ET, 1 game at 9 ET, 3 games at 10 ET. Luckily NHL CI is light on Monday (3 games on CI).

DirecTV is providing both broadcast feeds for all League Pass games except Hornets, Magic, Bucks & Raptors that night. These are all teams that have local broadcasts via a OTA channel which is on spotbeams and have streaming deals (DTC) that are not exclusive DAZN teams which DirecTV just signed a deal with (à la Spurs, Grizzlies, Cavs, Pacers & T'Wolves). Its also very common that we don't get Raptors broadcast very often from TSN or Sportsnet Ontario on League Pass.

Only the Knicks, Nets, Wizards, Bulls, Celtics, Rockets, Lakers, Warriors, Avalanche, Sharks and Bruins feeds will be using remaps of 24/7 RSNs that night. The rest will be relying on the part time feeds, including the Nuggets, Blackhawks and Kings who will be on their alt/overflow channels, and MSG Western NY will be live on channel 635-1 to carry Buffalo area ads during the Knicks game.

The NHL Network alternate will be live on channel 215-1 with Red Wings @ Panthers for those blacked out of Golden Knights @ Bruins on the main feed.

The Thunder @ Cavaliers game will be on one of Peacock Game Pass channels that night for commercial customers, they'll also have the back to back U-Conn Women's and Men's Basketball. One of the part time feeds will also be in use for WWE Raw via Joe Hand promotions.

I could be wrong but the only RSN we dont have is NBC SN Philadelphia .
