I was reading another post and it concerned me. How can I tell if my Dish is properly grounded? When the installer installed it, I don't remember any grounding discussion.

Thanks in advance.

It may not pass. Our office was informed several months ago that a groundlug HAS to be used in the place of the mounting bolt that is seen in your picture. Yes, I know it sounds a tad goofy sense metal-on-metal contact is occuring regardless. But as a previous poster has mentioned, the rationale is that the ground tracer has to have it's own AND independent boltdown.

Wow, that is gay. The dnsc office passes them here by grounding to a pivot bolt or a self tapping screw. And with QC grades of 95% or higher, they say I'm doing a quite well. As far as that being an NEC policy, i say BS. Electrical connection boxes are grounded via a grounding screw which is nothing more than a wire wrapped around self tapping screw.

sh*t, if you are not capable of grounding the system (i.e. apartments), then dish will give you permission to install an ungrounded system. Of course the customer has to sign responsibility for it though.
G
So i called dish and they, after a small battle, agreed to come and check/install the ground. I also scheduled at the same time for a second dish for 2 or my locals that are on 148/129.

My questions are.
1. Wont it be easier/cheaper for them to replace my d500 legacy quad system with a dish 1000 plus a switch to support my 942 and 2 501's ?
2. should I call back and suggest that ?
Liquidforce88
For a 942 and two 501's, if they use a Dish1000 they would come out with a DP34 a DP Twin and a DP Dual.
G
Thanks, if they didnt use the dish 1000, wont they need to do more ? I was assuming they will have to replace the legacy quad with something or at least install some switches so that all 4 tuners saw all 3 birds. AND still install a second dish, which takes time where as a 500 to dish1000 would be far quicker.
The reason i mention all this, is they never asked me what lnb i had, so would they know this work will need to be done too ?

sorry if im asking dumb question's just trying to make sure the install goes to plan
O
They'll probably just take the dish 500 down and put the 1000 in its place. The DP34 can handle 3 locations thus the 3 in the DP34 (3 inputs, 4 outputs).

What the installer does is his decision not really the company that dispatches him (at least that's how I think it is) -- it'll be cheaper for him or her in time to swap out the dish than to add another one and he might not have any legacy stuff to begin with so meh.

As for grounding *adds stupid joke* You know yer' a redneck if you think grounding your dish means sticking it in the ground!

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

SpaceX has held talks with Boost's parent company EchoStar in recent months about launching its own signature wireless service through a deal with the company, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.
Musk, the SpaceX CEO, has discussed the deal personally, meeting with EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen last month, according to the people. The potential deal may result in SpaceX acquiring Boost Mobile or SpaceX gaining access to its network, which it leases from AT&T and T-Mobile US, the people said.
Access to those lease agreements would be a coup for SpaceX. The back door would allow Musk to make a play for a U.S. wireless market that equity research firm MoffettNathanson estimates is worth $235 billion. But the proposed service may need consent from those carriers for the service to actually launch, the people said.

Can't remember where or who I saw predict this. :D

It wouldn't surprise me to see Elon soon own all of DISH / Echostar in the future.

Again, why would Musk want a TV Service, specially one that is losing over a million subscribers a year.

Phone service…maybe, but not TV.

I know he wants TV. He wants to deliver EVERYTHING to EVERYWHERE.

Again, if so, why would he want Dish/Sling of all the providers?

He could deliver anything without actually owning, for example, watching the Lions game in my Tesla Y on it's screen via the YT app, while on the way to my future in-laws on Sunday.

If Musk really wants to buy Boost, he might get a great price once Dish Wireless is out of Chapter 11.

Boost just lost 182,000 subs in the 3rd quarter-

M
Is Dish like Iran in one way...they both will totally collapse by end of week :)
Foxbat
Other than the price, my experience with Boost is not that different than what I experienced with my years with Cricket. I will be curious to see what happens if SpaceX takes the reins.

Hate to say this no one is ordering Satellite TV. Both DISH and Direct no new customers.
After 25 years with centurylink DSL 80 speed i changed to Xfinity 300 speed for $50 wow lightning fast for streaming. Still have DISH 27 years with them. Americas 250 package for $103. What you think of superbox or vseebox for streaming is it legal?
Still dish is easy to operate and change channels. What will Charlie Ergen do with new super satellites with loosing customers with satellites and boost?

Rodney Dangerfield is great. One of his best one liners - "My wife likes to talk to me during sex, last night she called me from Florida!"

Jackie Gleason is another one of the greats.
