Iceberg, do you ever have anything positive to say?. It seems all of your posts bad mouth or complain about the topic. Getting real tired of all the negativity from you. Think positive man!.

Well one would have to question why complain if you don't subscribe?
It's nothing personal.
Ice is a good guy.
He must just hate dish. Lol.

I've been around Ice since 2003. He has remarkably good advice when it comes to the satellite world and he has been more than helpful to many over those years. He is a bit curmudgeonly when it comes to many other things. That's his nature and we still love him for it. We actually need to counterbalance our view of the world through rose colored glasses....

I have plenty of positive things to say. However when DIsh takes away guide info for a local station just because they carry it in the locals now is wrong....and I'm sure folks would agree with me.

The last time I had Dish I had a 211 which can record one satellite station and one OTA station. So if I wanted to record MeTV (10-2 in Duluth) while recording another program on satellite I would now have to set up manual timers for the OTA station when a week ago I wouldn't have to

And yes I did live in Duluth......

I have had Dish 3 times in my lifetime. (and Directv, Bell and Shaw DIrect too at one time or another....sometimes more than one provider at same time).

I don't "hate" Dish. I just dont like some of their decisions. This would be one of them. They already have the OTA guide info....so why remove it??

I guess I could ask the3 same thing of you then....why do you complain or make fun of Directv when you dont have it???

well put :)

DISH took my ota guide down for the CW in our Beaumont ,Tx area last month. I thought oh well it is a sub channel and even though we have had guide data for years on this channel, I figured that DISH was now dropping the sub channels in areas that already had guide data. This week I notice not only did we have guide data back for the CW , we now had the channel logo too. This was because DISH finally added this CW channel in the Beaumont,Tx dma under channel 7 and labeled it by the new channel designation. I was very pleasantly surprised.:biggrin2

I am guessing Dish must be desperate for bandwidth, since this is not the only time lately that they have removed OTA guide data. Dish has also been removing interactive applications, most recently removing all of the games. Dish also changed the "What's on Dish?" slates recently. I am guessing that a plain black background uses less bandwidth than the old slates did.

They are not desperate for bandwidth, they just had a ~30% increase on WA with the 8PSK transition, and have more than that on EA. I wouldn't say they have a huge surplus, I am sure that they have plans for the amount they have left, but they are not so desperate as to change the slates on a barker channel or remove a bit of OTA guide data for that reason.
