Is it correct to say that all of the HD channels on 72.7 are mpeg4?
What about the HD channels on 129 ... mpeg2, 4, mix?
With the addition of the HD feed of Aljazera how many more HD signals can be added? I thought 129 was maxing out.

ALL channels on eastern arc - BOTH SD & HD - are MPEG4

ALL HD on western arc is MPEG4 & has been for several years now.

It is, but since they did a conversion of SD channels from QSPK to 8PSK, they now have more space on western arc for more HD; the SD channels are still in MPEG2, though. (do a search on 8PSK if you want more info on this)

I saw WRGT2 in my guide this morning at channel "44". It appears that Dish has added the local Fox affiliate's -02 subchannel.
7432(44) - WRGT2 [MPEG2 SD]Ciel-2 129W TP 04 Spotbeam 25 changed to Available (WRGT2)(Mkt: Dayton,OH)(A)(H)

It should be channel "45" though. Why would they map it to the wrong number?

It appears that they added 4-5 other sub-channels for other markets at the same time. Not sure if there's any relation between them (maybe owned by the same conglomerates ?).

I suppose they put it on 44 since not all Dish receivers are capable of having subchannels. I.E having 45.1, 45.2.

because Dish receivers can't map subchannel numbers. When a subchannel is added Dish uses one of 4 options to label it
1. They use the stations RF number.
2. They use the stations Pre-DTV number. As example in Mankato, MN the FOX is 12-2. Since KEYC uses 12 as their RF station, Dish uses KEYC's "old" DTV channel (38) for FOX
3. They agree on a number which is usually next to the existing station
4. Dish just makes up one

My Fox main channel 30.1 is 30 on Dish. The MeTV/MyTV subchannel 30.2 is 32 on Dish. Sorta logical.

Why do some markets get subchannels, while most don't?? I'd love to see MeTV and AntennaTV on DISH (MSP DMA).

That wont happen. Usually when a sub gets added it is tied to a network affiliation. The fact they are adding some "hybrid" stations (like Hall's example its My during prime time and ThisTV the rest of the time) might have to do with the owner (in this case its Sinclair and they were off Dish recently)

The only example I know of recently where a sub was added and its just a diginet was when WDIO-DT2 Duluth was added. Its MeTV (but they do carry the MSHSL tourney games we see on KSTC here in Mpls)

So, when will Dish be adding the My Network TV subchannel in Columbus, Ohio? That one is also owned by Sinclair.
