The company recently put itself on the fast track with an agreement for Verizon Communications to distribute its 12 cable channels and other NBC programing on its Internet-enabled TV service for what eventually will become personalized video-on-demand programing and wireless VOD. NBC's Verizon deal could make it the first major film and TV supplier to customize its content "to go."

A big content draw for Verizon TV, satellite radio and other emerging new distribution options is the NFL games. After years of resisting pricey TV sports rights deals, NBC Uni has agreed to pay $600 million annually, or $3.6 billion through 2011, for 23 games a season with four hours a night, or about $6.5 million in cost per hour of programing for the preseason, regular season and postseason games.
