:( Ok, my issues...

1. On a Dish 300, for my lat/long 34/82 per my dish network receiver, my info on 148 would be to az 259, elev 11--my problem: on the dish 300 -- the markings on the side that you adjust the dish only is marked for 20 degrees elevation to 65 degrees elevation, so how exactly do I get to 11 degrees elevation if the dish doesn't have the markings to adjust to?

2. From my location in upstate South Carolina, am I even able to receive the signal at 148? If so, how strong is the signal and does my line of sight have to be pretty damn "perfect"?

3. On the dish network receiver, when I go to point dish/check switch while aiming the dish towards 148, what information has to be in those boxes (zip code/tuner input/transponder/satellite)?

Anyone who can shed light into my ongoing problem, it would be greatly appreciated....Thank you. :up

you have to flip the dish upside down to get that low of an elevation or the mast has to be moved to compensate for it

I have a 15 elevation in MN and had to do the same thing. The elevation gets thrown out of whack but it works :)

First, you arent going to get 148W with any kind of consistency in SC without a 30" dish minimum. You can pick it up with a Dish 500 but will get massive errors as the signal will be in the low 50s and outage with literally a thunderstorm 100s of miles West.

You might get lucky, but i think you will be so marginal on a dish 300 that it will never work for any type of viewing for more than a few minutes - and if you have a newer STB - like the 211 or 622 etc, it will lock the stb up and require a reboot with the constant video errors.

Even a 36 inch did not give me reliable enough reception. It only got me into the low 60s on the signal strength.

Right now I am on a 1.2M now and still loose it with Thunderstorm out in the gulf or slight rain as you are shooting through SO MUCH of the lower atmosphere. With the 1.2M the best I can get is around a 72 - but it constantly varies between a 67-72. And I am shooting at 13 degrees - not the 11 degrees you are going for.

The biggest problem, as you have figured out, is that you need 11 degrees. The Dish 300/500/1000 have a 22.5 degree offset. That mean though the bird is at 11 degrees, you must be pointed at -11.5 degrees which is 11.5 degrees BELOW the horizon and the dish mounts are not designed for that.

Thanks, I would try it on my FTA setup and not go thru the Dish 300 but my motor on the FTA will only go to 140 degrees west.....

Thanks for all your help. :hatsoff:
