Since our local station here in northeast AR is KAIT, shouldn't we receive the new NBC sub channel in hd as well? Not being a smart alec, but I was just wondering.

Well, that was a random move. Also, that's way too many channels on a transponder. If they were MPEG5 instead of MPEG4 it might work.

you should but I see Dish is not carrying it in HD. They did the same thing in Jackson, TN when they got a local NBC
Since the other locals are in HD this should be too

I was hoping it would be in hd for sure. In an instance like this, is it up to the station or Dish for it to be shown in hd? Another question along the same subject... Could a station like KAIT add a CBS from a sister station that's out of the market? Memphis is about 90 miles from Jonesboro, but could they get one from farther out than that?

They have to agree (both dish and the owner of the station) whether its in HD or SD (if that is an option)
KAIT actually launched a subchannel of 8-2 for NBC. Both KAIT and WMC (NBC in Memphis) are owned by Raycom so its a no brainer. Get NBC in the market for folks with a OTA antenna and get more eyeballs on satellite. Directv carries the Paducah stations as fill ins (CBS, FOX & until recently NBC) so now Raycom gets the J'Boro market for NBC now

The only way to get CBS in the market would be if someone puts up a tower (or maybe that religious station sells). There really is no room on the KAIT frequency for another HD channel. There are no CBS Raycom stations nearby

I see what you mean. I knew that Raycom owned KFVS in Cape Girardeau, MO. Sometimes, KAIT gets some of their news stories from them. Of course, that's about 200 miles north of Jonesboro. Where I live, before digital came along, we could pick up stations from Cape, Paducah, and Memphis. Now it's just Jonesboro. Sometimes KPOB from Poplar Bluff, MO. Living here and not getting the networks in hd, I was hoping.

Jonesboro locals (well a couple of them...ABC & PBS) are in HD but you need Eastern Arc

It took me forever when I contacted Dish for them to move us to the eastern arc. It's weird they get CBS from there when Memphis would seem to be more logical.

spotbeam may be different on Directv than Dish.
