Wow ... all my locals now in HD ... What more could I ask for?
Oh, yeah ... How about the Superstations in HD?

You know what? I'd be willing to compromise on that a little. They could transmit them in widescreen SD and I would probably shut up about it. It wouldn't tie up valuable bandwidth, and I would get all the picture I pay for. I would be happy, and none of you would ever have to hear about it again from me.

They are in HD in their own markets. As to why they do not do nationally could be one of several possible reasons, including lack of subs to dedicate HD bandwidth, unclear if the copyright exemption applies to the HD version, too much push from local CWs (i.e. local stations can request blackouts of the syndicated programming on the superstations).

The copyright exception does apply to the HD versions. it is likely a bandwidth issue and/or fear that the locals will request syndex.
