VERY interesting. These were the three TMP channels that were only available at 129. (Actually there is a 4th- "TMP E", that seems to be left over from an early 2008 batch of uplinks.)

This week, 4 of the properly mirrored TMP channels were switched on, leaving 16 still ready to go at any time. This brings the number of potential new HDs back up to 19.

There are still 2 improperly mirrored channels (129/77 mirrors), plus the 7 still sitting at 110 from the MPEG-4 switchover.

Could a spring HD storm still be coming? If you have 16 TMP channels and only plan on using seven of them, why add three more?

The removed ones were only virtual entries used to create and hold the space where the channels moved to a while back.

Obviously these are SD TV entries for this DMA. Three HD local channels for this market are on E*12 61.5°. KSWO in Lawton was supposed to be in HD on channel 5150, but nothing has been done to this point. KKTM in Altus is SD only. At least KSWO comes in OTA reasonably well in HD -as long as you don't live in the Wichita Mountains or some place like that.

HD RSNs already have channel numbers, so those cannot be the TMP channels.

There would not be any uplink change to make them Full Time, they would just not have that slate with the picture of sports equipment...

Right now the HD RSN's shuffle around to different TP's because they haven't dedicated enough space for full time HD RSN's. So the temps could be space reserved specically for full time HD RSN's without shuffling.

Yes, but I can't imagine why they would need to do any of that in advance with TMP channels.

When they had BET-J-HD and TMC-HD uplinked, they used TMP channels because they needed to make sure that the channels were working properly before they made them available to the public.

In the case of the HD RSNs, they have been tested for many months, and in fact, the part-time switching on-and-off software is more complicated than running them 24/7. And, there would be significant bandwidth duplication by having both the full-time and part-time RSNs running at the same time.

Also, while I myself watch my HD RSN, I do not ever remember the issue being mentioned on a Charlie Chat, Tech Forum, or even a Retailer Chat, so unless the RSNs themselves are lobbying to go full-time, I can't imagine Dish doing so.
