I know we've had all this talk now for well over a year about eliminating mix arc setups but it almost looks like they are trying to make all the conus HD avaiable using a 110/119/72.7 configuration. Those HD channels they've moved from 72.7 to 61.5 are also available at 110. I'm sure I'm dead wrong and they'll do something to contradict me later today. lol

I bet it is nothing more than trying to force people off of 110/119/61.5. They are making 61.5 useless to western arc people. If they do enough moves perhaps it will finally annoy them enough to call in and get a dish upgrade to a pure arc configuration.

Plus besides upgrading them to their areas pure arc they are also upgrading them to with newer recevers where needed, on the Western Arc the game plan is still to start moving SD channels to 8PSK and regain a lot of space to be used for more HD.

I thought they were moving all HD to 72.7 and all SD to 61.5, but I guess that not the case, as they Put HDTHR & HDNET on 61.5

People with 110/119/61.5 would have already had HDTHR/NET on 110. So, they would not notice anything by this change, but they will notice all the other HD channels going away.

I would not be surprised that in the future Dish moves them again.

If they are trying to allow more space for HD on western arc by going to all 8PSK then does that mean that there are not as many channels on western arc as there are on eastern arc?

If you mean "capacity", then yes it does, plus or minus a few transponders. Eastern arc has more room because (1) even the SD is MPEG-4 and (2) most channels are already 8PSK.

Dish has 82 transponders available on Western Arc (minus 1 being leased out for distants at the moment). Eastern arc Dish technically has access to 96 transponders but:

1. 2 TPs on 61.5 do not belong to Dish, they are temporarily authorised to use them since there are no owners, the FCC is blocked from selling them because of current lawsuits
2. 32 of the TPs are on 77 which is very restricted in usage since it is mexican slot and if it points too far north it causes problems with Candian DBS. Most likely the slot will have to be US spot beams and Dish mexico service, no national US programming.

But, of course it depends on how many TPs are being used for spot beams verses CONUS. WA has more TPs available for CONUS, but EA is using 8PSK (allowing about 30% more capacity per TP) so it currently has more channel capacity.

How come I only see the 170 of 119 tp16.

how can i change to get the one of 61.5 i get better reception of that one instead of the 119.

You can't.

The receiver picks whichever one it wants (and I don't know the exact algorithm).
