I'm currently using the 18" x 20" Multi-Satellite with a triple LNB. Something like this:

18 Inch x 20 Inch Triple LNB DIRECTV Multi-Satellite Dish Antenna (OD1820-BX) | KT1820BXLNB [DIRECTV] | Phase 3 Phase III 3-LNB 3-LNBF triple-lnb dish directv hd compatible directv dish 1820dish 1820 dish 18x20 18 x 20 dish KT1820BXLNB OD1820BX

I want to upgrade to a 5 LNB and I'm wondering if I can swap a new 5 LNB in place of the existing 3 LNB. These are available on ebay and are considerably cheaper than buying a new satellite.

Slimlime Direct Tv Directv 5 LNB Dish KA/KU. HDTV - eBay (item 290204683447 end time Feb-11-08 15:40:12 PST)

Anyways, the description says that these are compatible with the Slimline dish. Does anyone know if this would be compatible with my current dish? I appreciate any help.

No. You must have the Slimline dish (also known as the "Big Nasty") The old Phase III dish won't work.

"Big Nasty" ? When did that come about?

LOL Don't know but I like it. The "side-car" was a bitch but the slimline is just a glorified Triple Dish. I've gotten my assembly and install time just on the dish down to about 30-45 minutes depending on how I mount it. The first-gen dishes were big and nasty that's for sure LOL.
