38501 zip...eastern arc local HD channel transponder broken

I had to use the eastern arc to get HD due to LOS...installer said transponder on eastern arc HD satellite is broken for Nashville HD locals. Looks like that is true since I can't get locals...and don't have the option of SD on locals.

How can i get locals, whether HD or not? would small antenna inside work?

i have maple trees, so cant get western arc.

It's not that it's broken, it just doesn't work n your area. Nashville Locals come in from the 61.5 Satellite (part of the eastern arc) On Spotbeam 7 (http://www.satelliteguys.us/thelist/index.php?search=dnall?=true&sort=&order=&beamMap=E12_SB7.jpg) Which does not extend far enough east for you. You might be able to get a wing dish pointed at the 110 satellite to at least get SD Locals (or less likely 129 for HD Locals), but that will depend on just how bad the tree coverage is.
