Will 3TB 4TB 5TB External Hard Drives work but only read & recognize only 2TB's or none at all?

Not many reports over 3T, but yes, only 2T will be formatted for use.

Just picked up the WD 2T My Book Desktop External Drive - is there a specific format that I should format it to before hooking it up to maximize the speed?

I am currently using a 3TB drive which is completely recognized and used by the Hopper. I also thought that only 2TB can be used until I switched to a different external drive housing. I am currently using the "Sabrent USB 3.0 to SATA External Hard Drive Lay-Flat Docking Station".

The DVR will do the formatting on its own the first time you connect the external drive.

R U using a 2.5 or 3.5 hard drive? SATA III, SATA ll ?

The 211's will refuse any drive larger than 2TB. Kind of annoying since 4TB seems to be the minimum readily available non portable external drive.
