My mom is hard of hearing and is using a wireless (mono) speaker whose transmitter is connected to the 522 via the RCA analog audio outs. She'd like to be able to mute while using her Dish remote, but I told her I didn't think it was possible since the audio outs are most likely line-level outs. Is this true? I, myself do not own a 522, so I'm unable to experiment much.

PS: with her current TV, this is the only option to connect her wireless speaker. (She doesn't have an AV receiver, etc.)

Right, the 522 does not have any built-in volume control or mute. By any chance, does that wireless speaker have a remote? If so, there's a slight chance you can program the 522 remote to control that.

Can the 522 audio drops be fixed?

DPP 500 twin w/sep or DPP44?
