I used to do a front-panel reset on my 501s every night - it prevented memory errors from gradually accumulating and causing recording problems.

The 721 is less sensitive, and only needs to be rebooted once or twice a month.

Does the 622 work better if it is reset every so often, and if so, how often ?

I used to do the same thing (reboot once a week) when I had a 522 and it really made a difference. I would experience many of the same problems others here reported, primarily audio/video sync'ing and once I started rebooting it, my problems went away whereas others still complained that they were having trouble....

I've been trying to reboot my 622 once a week but don't remember all the time. Then again, until L4.0x, I really never had trouble or needed to do the reboots. I do now....

Yes, it actually reboots every night (or whenever you have your update schedule - the default is 3:00AM)

Yes and it reboots even if being watch. It does warn but if you don't catch it or you are are recording to DVD it will reset right in front of you. I end up setting 5:05 AM so that with late hour watching and occasional DVDing I am seldom interrupted.
I forget, is that default of 3 AM EDT or local time? You set local time.
