Talked to csr about a week ago their trying to tell me you have to have them install you can't do it your self what is the big deal with them doing it!

No one quite knows why.
You do have a better chance of activating it yourself if you speak directly to a HD tech CSR.
also make sure you have all the right satellite positions and switches for your final config before you activate it yourself.
