So about a month ago, my 3-year-old 622 died, and i called dish and they sent me a new one (refurb, of course) since i'm a lease. paid the 15 bucks for shipping or whatever.
new one is here, has been working fine, and yet in the last week, i've had nearly a dozen separate incidents of shows saying "part of this recording was lost" or whatever that message is. It happens at the end of the shows, after recording the first 90% or so without any incident at all...not even little blips of a problem. My signal strength is locked in on the satellites. I thought it was my OTA antenna, because it had been knocked sideways by the kids, and the first two shows were from OTA channels. I've always had a questionable signal for FOX locally, but it looks a lot better when it comes in, and i need the sat tuners for other channels.
anyway, i started having the same issue on the sat tuners as well. seems like it's happening at night mostly, but that's when most things record, so i don't know what that means.
it's also happened to the local OTA channel that is literally 100% signal 24/7 that is located about 4 miles from my house. we had a little rain, but no serious weather.
it's not the kind of signal loss where you lose a couple seconds and it starts back up. basically i get the first 50 minutes of an hour show, or i get the first 110 minutes of a 2 hour show. it isn't as consistent as I'm making it sound, but it DOES kill the rest of the recording when it gets to the bad part.
so far it has happened on 2 OTA locals and on the following HD channels: CBS, NBC, History, Food, Science, and Comedy Central.
Is there something wrong with my 622 that would make this happen? I haven't seen it happen in "real time" only when playing back something that was prerecorded. We dont' usually watch tv when it's actually on. So for all i know, the shows were playing fine while they were recording, and the signal was there the whole time, but the 622 is corrupting the recording afterwards somehow.
i really don't want to have to get ANOTHER reciever.
