722 usb ports.

I have a 722 vip and i just got the dish anywhere. It works decent how ever i had to unplug my 500 gig hard drive. So basically my question is, can i buy one of the usb thingys that makes 1 usb port into 2 or 3 or what ever and will it work so my hard drive and slingbox work simultaneously?

You a front and back USB port. You can plug the sling into one and the drive into the other.

A powered hub has been reported to work. Also, you can try the front panel USB jack if you don't care about the looks.

Yes, the hubs work. I actually use a non-powered one for multiple external hard drives on the 922, but I think that only works on the 922. A powered usb hub should work fine.

Powered hubs have other advantages also.
I've used a powered hub since I've had the external drive because it keeps the drive from "turning on" every time the receiver reboots.
