I'm trying to reset this receiver back to factory settings, I want all recordings, timers and channel lists gone. I used to be able to do this by going into the diagnostics screen and hitting Info > Browse > Themes and rebooting the receiver. When I try this I get a memory dump screen but the memory doesn't dump...any idea what I'm doing wrong?

1: To access Memory Dump Screen (press these keys quickly in turn):

(MENU-6-3) (INFO-BROWSE-THEME)

2: Format HDD:
You should be at the Memory Dump screen FIRST (see above).

Press Play, Play, Recall

You will lose all recordings and timers!

I fear you are getting rid of your 722... That's just wrong. ;)

I moved from a ViP to a Wally last year, just moved my parents over and this is their old 722k. The ViPs are real workhorses, but it was time. The Wally had big shoes to fill but I think everyone is happy with them. I found some NOS 40.0 remotes and that helped them with the transition.

Idk why you would want to get rid of a vip...FOR A Wally

The ViP is outdated junk and I got rid of the DVR fee.
My 612 is the best reciever I ever bought. PLUS the new technology has no ota built in so you need to spend a extra 40 to $60 on a usb ota adapter Unlike the old tech that has it all built in. And my wally which I threw out never said Wrong sat when aiming so I just got 1 sat and didn't even know it. My 612 says for example wrong sat EchoStar 119 west.

Actually, learning how to wipe a ViP receiver would be helpful. We replaced a ViP 211 with a 211k last year and I want to "clean" the older unit before disposal. I also could have used this when I sold the ViP 722, too.

The 722k doesn't have built in OTA either. But since you mentioned the 612, the OTA tuner went bad in the first one I had, if it had been external I could have just swapped it. The second 612 died due to bad caps. They weren't the greatest when they were new, and didn't get better with age. The entire reason for those dual TV receivers was Charlie's obsession with account stacking, which just ended up giving the consumer an inferior product.

With the Wally I have no fees, Hopper interface, and can record 4 channels at the same time. Blows away any ViP receiver. Downside, I can't fry an egg on it like a ViP.

Here's an obscure receiver for you to track down - the 111.

Isn't the 111 just a bell expressvu reciever?

Is there any rare dish recievers I should try to get?

2000 was the original, for that reason I'd add it to the list
5000 had a built in analog OTA tuner and expansion port that allowed it to be the first HD receiver
7100 was a weird WebTV/first DVR receiver
111 wasn't around for long, only a couple months
721 was a weird Linux based 2 tuner DVR
921 didn't stick around long and is rare
And of course the HM-DSR100RU D-VHS unit

What’s going on with KWCM (Pioneer PBS) in the MSP DMA?

My rate just went through the roof!
