I'm trying to reset this receiver back to factory settings, I want all recordings, timers and channel lists gone. I used to be able to do this by going into the diagnostics screen and hitting Info > Browse > Themes and rebooting the receiver. When I try this I get a memory dump screen but the memory doesn't dump...any idea what I'm doing wrong?

1: To access Memory Dump Screen (press these keys quickly in turn):

(MENU-6-3) (INFO-BROWSE-THEME)

2: Format HDD:
You should be at the Memory Dump screen FIRST (see above).

Press Play, Play, Recall

You will lose all recordings and timers!

I fear you are getting rid of your 722... That's just wrong. ;)

I moved from a ViP to a Wally last year, just moved my parents over and this is their old 722k. The ViPs are real workhorses, but it was time. The Wally had big shoes to fill but I think everyone is happy with them. I found some NOS 40.0 remotes and that helped them with the transition.
