Hard reset, by definition is to unplug the receiver for at least 10 seconds. Did you make sure the remote is set on sat and not one of the other devices at the top of the remote, sometimes other button get pushed accidentally? If not this then it could also be the remote address on the receiver and remote may be different. You can press the system info button on the receiver (behind door on right) on the front of the receiver and press the sat button, holding till all the four of the top buttons light, then press the "#" button twice and count the blinks on the sat button to see if they match.
