Can HDTV be taped on a HDVCR and if so what HDVCR's are best at doing it?

Only via firewire, Ray. Not via component or DVI. The DVHS recorders only have firewire inputs.

There of course is one exception to this - the WVHS recorder that came out a few years ago that accepted component inputs and would record HD content, but was very expensive and isn't made anymore. You can still find one, though, on ebay from time to time in the $2-3k range, and the tapes run about $25 each or so.
